Scammed on eBay

    Hi all

Don't know if this is exactly the right place, but I just had a question that I know people here will know :)

I just purchased a digital good on Ebay. Now this seller has 20,000+ positive feedback.

Apparently the item I got was different from description. It said product was working, which was not when I received it.

I have been consistently trying to contact the seller, now over 2 weeks, who has ditched me and is not caring to answer any questions I have.

Is there any way I can get an exchange or refund for this non-working product, guaranteed?

I paid with PayPal. Is there any promise behind opening a dispute or just a waste of time?

    Thanks.

It is a digital goods, I don't think you have much of a chance :( but do try anyway. Rep is not much use, some of the users in Ebay was actually using the e books buying and selling at a few cents to create such high reps.

Not even a chance for a refund you think, like if I do a claim? I'm not the kind of buyer that gets angry about every little thing but this was 100% different that the product described.

And I do believe you; these people sell products at under $3 in massive amounts.

    Thanks :)

Try opening a dispute with paypal, if the seller can't be asked to fight it you might just get a refund... never-the-less you have nothing to lose by trying ;)

I'd file a claim with paypal. Then the seller will have seven days to respond. If he refuse to respond you'll get your refund. How much was the auction for?

Just curious as I'm an ebay trading assistant and sometimes powerseller myself.

Put it up with paypal, dispute the charge and maybe the seller will just give up on it as he cannot touch the funds either.

Alright thanks. I'll see if I can get something out of it.

It wasn't an entirely expensive thing, upper $xx... but still a waste on something that doesn't work. Description told me "Guaranteed to Work or your money back!" Never heard back from the seller again :(

    Thanks.

always open a dispute with Paypal. Leave the guy negative feedback, too. I dont think sellers can leave buyers negative feedback anymore.

I agree w/ the majority, open the dispute on Paypal. Also, talk with someone on Ebay Live. They are usually really helpful and will let you know if there is anything you can do on there end.

I don't trust any digital goods on eBay unless it is something extremely unique. Most of them are nothing but stolen 1990 html website templates and ebooks with claims of resell rights and so forth.

I think a dispute leaves you at least with a chance... Doesn't PayPal ensure buyers and not sellers with digital goods? Definitely file a dispute, leave negative feedback and do anything you can to take action against the seller. Best & Take Care.

P.S. Let us know how things work out...

You can definitely try opening a dispute and seeing what happens, doesn't hurt.

Try calling up your ebay or PayPal, they might sort it out.. If that guy ran away, then less chances
