I worked something out with rackspace for a video streaming website..this is the quote i got What do you guys think? Is that a good deal? Rackspace seems the best in dedicated servers, i just dont know if there are any better prices out there. comments appreciated. - Metalic
A bit expensive if you ask me. But Rackspace brings you more services than others, I guess it's worth. However, video streaming can eat bandwidth. 1000GB free upgrade, but how about standard bandwidth included in package?
is rackspace expensive, yup. On the other hand they are hands down the best host I have ever worked with. ever. seriously. Most hosting companies are service commodities, completely interchangeable. Rackspace service is the best, no competition. You're paying for the service though. If you call rackspace at 3am, you'll have a live person answer the phone and then get transferred to a support group that is already familiar with your accounts and knows your server better than you do. On the other hand, if you want to fix and install things yourself, you can save some money and go with another host. It comes down to the service & quality they deliver. I dont rave about a lot of vendors, but I will rave about these guys.
Rackspace is the best managed solution you can find, but they are also the most expensive you can find, you don't actually see the jump in monthly until you pass the second TB, this is where they really make their money, also remember they require a 1 year minimum contract, you can find much cheaper if you do your homework, but it would never be as good as Rackspace in managed hosting, if you can manage your server you shouldn't be paying more than $300/Mo.
With 12-15TB transfer/month you will need to spend huge amount of money at Rackspace. In that case, I would go with another one and a good management service company likes Admingeekz.com
