And the vote goes to, none other than Free Index. Yes, this is my own personal favourite. As far as directories go the Free Index has very good features and work really well. They have a marvellous search so if you search for night clubs it returns search results with a Google map first and then search results. Alternatively you can search by area too. They have grown steadily and continue to do so. STATS Pagerank: 6 Google Backlinks: 3290 Yahoo Backlinks: 320,743 Google Cached Pages: 417,000 Yahoo Cached Pages: 156,996 .
Surprisingly enough FreeIndex.co.uk's profile page for our company comes up in the top 10 time and time again when searching for our company by our companies name. May be because it has quite a bit of content about us written which I submitted and it's all (relatively) unique. Very impressed...except with the 'nofollow' - a 'nofollow' directory?
yea i will agree with this UK directory site, this directory've got very good system and quality traffic from visitors. Thanks John
I do like this directory even though I suspect that sooner or later your going to have to pay to get listed in it. The only negatives I found (that's even if it can be called negative) was that many companies have a duplicate listing, and that it doesn't have the ability to do a postcode search. Great example of a local directory.
This is an absolutely first class directory and the real joy is how they have managed their back links, a clever policy well executed. The potential downfall for the site may be their Adsense integration; it might just be too good for Google's liking.
You know I never thought of that. Perhaps its a loss leader to get advertisers in? I do know UK adsense is quite lucrative at the moment but not to the level where it is going to be able to sustain it for long. I'm going to keep an eye on this one, it looks interesting.
