"Damned if you do and damned if you don't" is how it works. It's the same all sob story of crying for the Americans to help and when they arrive start complaining or even attacking our troops,

It's time for China, India and Europe to step up.

Iraq is a case where everyone was opposed to it and Bush forced his will, but I do not think Myanmar is the same. I would say most people would hope that USA do something. China, India and Europe do not have the abilities to project their powers far and to enable rapid deployment of aid. I guess only USA has such capability.

China & India have the influence and energy contracts with the leadership in Burma. Everything I've seen suggests they want to keep the nation closed from any American influence, and Washington has been fine with that deal so far...

All are fine with the deal except the rumored 200 000 innocent civilians dead and many more to come as diseases and lack of food and clean water claim more of the innocent civilians.

Bangladesh also borders Burma. Maybe they can send in some rice and fresh water.

I think this is a misconception. While America is a great country it's not godly. Other countries have people, planes, food, and fuel too.

Bangladesh can't feed itself properly I guess, it isn't much better than Myanmar, only China and Thailand are quite prosperous.

The Burma situation is very similiar to the North Korean famine where up to 3.5 million died.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Korean_famine

China is far more protecting their allies than living up to international obligations.

    It's not about money.

Burma is seizing UN aid and some countries like france don't trust that the victims will receive the aid.

The victims rarely receive the aid. Preferred contractors get the revenue.

I think everyone who blew their stimulus check on Chinese consumer goods should return those goods and donate their money to Myanmar.

Thats what I am thinking, the aid packages may end up repackaged and sold to the starving masses to squeeze every cent out of them. I really pity the victims, estimated of up to 1.5 million deaths from the cyclone and the aftermath.

Despite Burma being one of the poorest countries in Asia, General Than Shwe, the head of the military junta spent three times the state health budget on a lavish wedding for his daughter.

Diamonds, champagne and tens of millions of dollars worth of gifts .... Than Shwe's daughters wedding on youtube

It's times like these where you hope the people will get pissed off enough to change the way their government works.

Instead of food and water, let's just give them Ak-47s.

    Half joking - lol
