you can't remove it otherwise you won't be able to login to admin panel edit BTW you can remove the link from your homepage
Thats what i was meaning would you say its not worth the bother removing? i guess after all, if anyone wanted to do any damage they would know where to find the login anyway.
yeah thats a good idea but will it work if you change the path i think it must be using the relative path if it uses relative path than it won't work but if it uses the domain path from config file tan it should work never tried actually if you try please tell me to whether it works or not for additional security what u can do is you can password protect wp-login using htaccess i think it is very hard to break htaccess protection
No probs, if i try it out il definately let you know. And thanks for mentioning about password protecting using htaccess, i haven't tried that either but its sounds like a very good idea. Im not sure how to do that with htaccess but will look into it.
How can you remove it? I didn't think you could edit widgets? Because I want to edit search and meta widgets.
You really don't have to worry about people hacking it because you are still protected by your password (which is md5 encrypted.) I do remove the meta section on the blog though; not because of security issues, but instead due to cosmetic reasons. It is proven that blog clutter (unnecessary things on the blog) turns off users. The meta section really doesn't help anyone other than the author, unless you require registering to comment (which is another bad idea, but that's another story.) If you don't require users to register to comment then you definetely shouldn't show the meta section. I don't know about you, but I would much rather make the blog appealing to readers than have a little convenience with the meta section (actually it isn't even really that convenient, imo bookmarking your login page is easier.)
You can remove it from the homepage. Thats not a problem. And if you want to hide your site software and keep people guessing, what CMS is your site using, then better rename the WP-ADMIN folder and link all of it stuffs to the new folder. I did it for one of sites and still many people keep guessing, what CMS is this site using. ha ha ha... Its a nice trick.
it is not at all difficult to guess which cms you are using not even if you rename admin folder there is a link at bottom to the wordpress so any body can guess which cms it is and if you dare to remove that link also than just open page source and you will find it but why do u want the people not to know which cms you are using?
