Losing Links

So, last time I checked Webmaster Tools, I had about 850 backlinks and now it dropped to 700. Does anyone know why this could happen.

Let me point out the obvious reasons it could be:

A LOT (maybe 300 of them) are from forums, so it could be archived threads. Another bunch of them are from Press Release, so they may be archived or removed.

I'm just not sure though. Any thoughts would be reassuring.

    Thanks guys.

    True...

It was just strange. I keep track of, and record, my backlinks on a bi-weekly bases. And every time it goes up (by about 50)... this is the first time I've ever seen it drop (been tracking for about 5 months), so I was curious.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the replies.

I some times lose 500 backlinks in google webmaster tools for one of my sites.

I guess its normal, just keep building backlinks. Try to get backlinks from high PR pages.
