PayPal Account Locked/Deleted

Discussion in 'PayPal' started by almondj, May 8, 2008.

A month or so ago I received an email from PayPal stating my account had been locked. I thought that was weird because I still have not received any complaint emails from anyone. I let it go on for a few weeks then I called them. So here's the thing:

Someone complained against my account, so PayPal, with no proof or anything can close my account. However, my $400 is being held hostage until October 2008. There reason is to clear any unexpected troubles in the next 180 days.

Has this happened to anyone else?

sorry to hear about this.... but i dont think paypal will lock the account just like that... there is a big reason and i think the reason could be you did not respond to paypal in time which is why they may have decided to close your account... but i think you should still try for one last time and tell them that you are away when you get that limited account notification email or dispute email.... just call them again and explain everything who you couldn't respond in time.... just make a good story....:D

You recieved an email from paypal and didn't respond to it for a few weeks - in that email paypal told you exactly what you needed to do, when you didn't respond in any way they froze your account - why didn't you respond? Did you think they were just writing you a love letter (just kidding)

Anyway, do like "pervert-for-life" said, hopefully it will work -

Could you please elaborate a bit. I am afraid, it could happen to anybody.
I want to know what is a limitation? Does it mean, they restrict you to send receive enough money or something else.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks

No I randomly got an email one night saying it was being closed, I was like WTF? I didn't know if it was a joke email, so I logged in and it said, limited account. So, I responded to them via email immediately. Got an answer a week later and they said that my account looked ok. I logged in and it was still there, so the next day I called them and they gave me no reason.

When they limit your account, did they specify the reasons why it is limited in the first place?

Nothing is impossible, I would be so fast in accusing the OP. Give him a chance to state his stand and clarify on this.

Personally, I think people are getting tired of PayPal.

I've seen quite a few posts talking about how PayPal always sides with the buyer. That kind of practice invites abuse. All someone has to do is buy something and file a dispute. They get their money back and keep the item sold. It seems to be a popular scam.

How could ever PAYPAL does that. It's your money, no matter how you earned it. Unless you violated any law implemented by the government, nobody can just seal your account.
Did PAYPAL received any complaint from the law enforcement section from your country's government?
How can they lock your account after receiving just one complaint from any unsung buyer, even without verification from you?
    This is RIDICULOUS man.

I agree with the above statements..

I've used paypal now for 4-5 years. I've had thousands of successful sales from people on every continent on this planet. I've yet to have a single fraudulent transaction or charge. People complain a lot against paypal, I just don't see how it's possible. I've had to call their support a few times in the past, there were no hold times, agents are always very friendly and helpful.

I really just don't see how it is possible that they would just lock your account for no reason. I've even had my account accidentally with a negative balance for a week and they didn't close it.

What were you doing? HYIP? Did your service meet their guidelines for allowable usage?
