Yes, it is final, downloadable from Microsoft Update and it can be installed even with IE 7 (IE 7 had issues on beta versions of SP3).

Thanks, looking at the Windows Updates and Windows XP Service Pack 3. It is going to be quite useful.

Normally for such major upgrades as service packs, I won't be the first to do it, I would wait a week or two to verify that the others have no problems before I myself upgrade my own :)

Yeah wright, Microsft said that there are no perfomance increases and you see a perfomance increase, it's just the autosuggestion

I won't think Microsoft will want too much of a good thing for XP at the moment given that Vista is out. At most they will patch the bugs and vulnerabilities and thats about it.

If you need to update it immediately, you can use the manual update.

For large updates such as service packs, you find that it is auto update in batches and not all together, it takes time before it reaches you.

It's good for new installations. I will try to slipstream it and write a guide.

This is obvious that a perfomance increase is not possible when this service pack only contains fixes and patches. In fact it contains fixes post sp2 and a few updates, that's it.
