Backlink from Authority site - Impact on PR?

    Hi,

    If you were successful enough to get one or two links back from an authority website in relevant section that deals directly with your content on your website, what kind of an impact will this have on your page rank?

    For example, if the link is coming from a PR7 or PR8 site, and your pointing to a PR2 site .... will there be any change on the next PR update?

    Depends what kinda link.
    Can you clarify that please?
    To be honest if you have PR8 backlink you are almost instant pr 6 in 1 update.
    I know sites that have PR 9 backlink they are all PR 9 as well.
    PageRank 10 will take you direct pr 8 or 9 in an update or 2.
    From what I have seen with some Adobe workers blog.

    If you have a few pr7 and pr8 backlinks you may have a pr 5 next pagerank update.

    it may be a PR 7 or 8 SITE but it depends what the PR of the PAGE the link is on is, how many other links are on that page, if they link direct or via a script that hides the link, if they use no-follow, how long the link remains there etc etc.

    got a pr4 on a domain which has 1 backlink only in yahaoo and this is from a pr5 page ;) didnt even realize until i blew the dust off the domain yesterday for a new project!

    No one can tell you whether your PR will change or not.

    I guess you will need to wait for the next PR update.

    If you are on a PR5 page and you are the only outgoing link, you will get more PR than if you were on a PR10 page with 100 links.
