Is it still good to buy links to your site?

Does anybody know if it is still a good idea to buy high PR links to your site to get higher pagerank? I was wondering if Google may have found ways to determine if a particular site has bought links or anything.

They only know if the site is reported. It is never a good idea to buy links just for PR, you need to focus on traffic and advertising your site in the correct niche. The PR will come by building good solid links to your site.

You should try buying banner ads and text links ads that bring in alot of traffic, as the traffic in turn will increase your PR.

If you insist on buying links then try textlinkbrokers

The traffic you receive from a link does nothing to increase your Google PR. Maybe you are thinking of Alexa Traffic Rank?

    LOL your kidding me right?

    Ofcourse it does.

Any increase in traffic will increase your PR....PR is NOT just based on LINKS...but a big part is determined by how much traffic a given website gets.

Thats why sometimes if you start PPC campaigns...that extra traffic will help to increase your PR.

Buying links puts yourself at risk to be slapped down by google, then it was a waste of buying the links, unless you get great traffic from the links.

There are tons of free link building tips and techniques for you to utilize. Try those out, and you can greatly increase the amount of backlinks you have, all for a littler bit of work.

Pagerank is simply a measurement of backlinks and their quality. Google does not use any type of traffic analysis in determining ones pagerank. Google explains its pagerank technology here.

Don't get carried away with page rank, if your always keeping page rank in mind then your heading the wrong direction.

no no thats a really basic explanation of page rank...traffic does influence the page rank for a web page...that is the part when google says "Using these and other factors, Google provides its views on pages' relative importance."

The "other factors" part is other things that also influence page rank, and traffic is one of them.

I also doubts whether traffic leads to an impact to PR, since many high PR site do not have much traffic at all.

Buying links will improve your SERP. It depends on your niche but buying quality links is essential when working in a competitive niche.

PageRank is 100% determined by backlinks to a site. Page content doesn't matter, traffic doesn't matter.

User data collected by google can influence rankings, but not toolbar pagerank. I think you are confusing toolbar PR with your site position in google search results. Two very different things.

Higher traffic can improve your pagerank indirectly because some of the visitors will like your site so much that they will link to it from their own sites. These new backlinks will increase your site's PR. So by getting more traffic, you will get more of these voluntary backlinks. It is an indirect effect.

Google ads are javascript and pass no PR and aren't counted as backlinks. The OP is talking about dofollow links that can pass PR.
