    Hey

I think its a good question. ,,,,,, If we don not use google analytics code in the site, will google track our visitors.

I think Yes, Google will track us without using the google analytics code but then we will not able to see our site traffic perfomance.

    Thanks

good point! without the code you you can't view the stats of your site. google may know who viewed your site but not you, not unless there is a stat tools that can track traffics even without tracking code.

Google does track the usage of people who have the googletoolbar installed, but in the situation you described then no google can't follow the user from yahoo to your site.

No way can Google track visitors from other sources unless you have 1. Google Analytics 2. Google toolbar But keep in mind that Google uses Alexa info as well

    Hi

No Google will track that particular users which is coming from yahoo or any other search engine.

Keep this point in your mind. Google analytics is only webmasters not for Google. Google has other software to track the traffic of the web.

    Thanks

    Really,

Can you give more details. I wouldn't have thought that it would have been possible.

How would google know if I went directly to a site from my browser, unless they had access to my ISP's data.

    I think google does.

    - If you google toolbar then check their privacy.

    - If your login to google and visit site then it is saved to some extent in web history in your google account.:D

    - If you use google adsense then your whole site is tracked by them. Do you want more answer.

    - If you go from google search to your site then also it is tracked to some extent.:D

Google analytics (if that's what you meant) can't give you traffic in any way. it is just a free tool so you can see how much traffic has gone your way. You can also look at some info too like from where your traffic came from, how long visitors stay at your site, etc. Google does not ban a site based on whether or not the site installed analytics, but based on their algorithm.

And lastly, I don't see how "useful backlinks" and analytics relate to each other.

As far as I understand it Google gathers a lot of information. Some of it is is site specific, some is specific to you and some is to do with what searches you do on google.

The main areas it can gather data are, toolbar, personalised search, analytics, Serps and adsense. It is only with the toolbar and personalised search that google will know what you get up to. The rest will only give general usage data and not specific data on you.

Still If i went to a site that had none of these things, and i was not signed in then google would know nothing about it. Google does not know when a link is clicked or not under these circumstances or can it gather data about yahoo or msn. It is not omniscient, but if you don't want google to know what you are up to you have to be very careful.

    Ok fine

    Could someone tell me

How Alexa.com know about the your stats, traffic performance and other stuff, while you are not using any alexa codes. How alexa.com is successful to tell you about your site traffic and compare with your competitive while you are not using any alexa codes?

    Thanks
