Transferring e-mail from host to host

I am in the process of moving my sites from one host to the other, a total of six domains. The new host has Cpanel 11, but the old host is using a custom panel.
My problem is the e-mail accounts. Is there any way to transfer the contents of my e-mail accounts (i.e. stored messages)? The old host is using Squirrel mail, which is an option on the new host. I only need the contents of 3 accounts.

Anyone know how to do this?

Cpanel is using Exim, you need to know what is the email software used by the old host.

    Isn't it Squirrel Mail?

Squirrelmail is a web mail portion of the email system.

Okay, I'm still confused. The old host email uses POP3 Webmail with Squirrelmail.
    Does that help?

Ok the email software can be Qmail, Exim, Postfix for Linux. For Windows the choices are even more. So it would be difficult for me to say.

Any idea how I can find out, short of contacting the host?

squirrelmail is just the front end to read mail from mail box .. you would have to contact the host and copy the mail folder (and its associated files) if you wish to migrate all your emails.

My sincere advice, please contact your host. You would not be able to do it without them (apart from downloading them in outlook / or forwarding them using any existing interface)

    Thx

Ask your client to send you an email, from the headers you may be able to find out

This host is very unhelpful and in the past has refused to help with this information. I really need to get everything backed up before talking to them.

@wisodomtool: I checked the header, and it seems to be qmail. BTW, these are my own sites.

You will need to google some information on how to migrate those emails from exim to qmail.

Looks like Entourage is grabbing all my messages. Thanks.

Still open to any superior method.

I use imapsync to move e-mail from one server to another.

Pretty slick once you get it setup - although can use a fair amount of ram when it's running.
