    Hi,

    Domain age = 6 months
    Website age = 6 months
    Daily visits = 100+
    Unique visitors daily = 50+
    Url of website = http://www.bluebirdwritingservices.com
    Blog Installed = Yes
    Google SEO = Good
    Yahoo SEO = Good
    MSN SEO = Good

Problem -- More than 80% of visitors just stay on website for less than 30 seconds, I am planning to redesign the website. Please let me know what changes should I made so my visitors stay on website for longer period say atleast for 3-5 minutes.

    Your suggestions are very welcome.

The design is nice, I wouldn't touch it. The page content however is what's killing you. What is this Web site supposed to do anyway?

We are web content providing firm, so website should bring me clients who need keyword rich content for their website or who need articles. :)

I am not getting why content of the website is not good or killing me --- I mean what changes should be made to change visitors into potential client? Your suggestions please.

The first thing I would do is stop writing for the search engines. Since your Web site is promoting your writing services, you should write it in such a manner that it naturally captivates your audience and compels them to pick up the phone and call, click on that contact form and send you an email, or however else you want people to reach you saying "Here's my money. Take it!!!" If you can get your hands on it, I strongly suggest you purchase a book called "Web Copy That Sells" by Maria Veloso. You might also want to check out www.dailywritingtips.com as well, there should be plenty of information on there that will show you how to write Web copy that sells - without having to write for the search engines or make it obvious that your pages are selling your services.

Make each page stand alone, concentrate on your key concepts & follow web standards.

Have a spot on you home page that offers folks to read an award winning article on xxx or xxx or xxx for different niches. If I was considering using you I would like to read your best previous article for a similar niche. I would stay longer and I might buy your service if I liked it.

Your home page copy also sounds like it is written by a non-native english speaker, that would make me not use your services.

Thanks for feedback, I will change the home page copy to more effective one. Is it okay if I try to be more seo oriented (stress on keyword-rich Home page content)?

Yeah, I will put sample articles on my website.

    Thanks,

I will to agree with you and disagree with Dan on the design question. It does need to be improved. The homepage is simply blank, no call to action and no spots to attract visitors interest.

Your main services are listed in top left of your sidebar, even tho thats a visible place it isn't when you are aiming for sales. I would move the services you are aiming in the center of the page, right under a brief welcome or even a description of what you folks CAN GIVE to these visitors that are landing there. Under that, a nice block for the services with a call to action buttons (buy now, read more, testimonials etc).

If I was in need to hire a copywriter and found your site from search engines I would really not know where to go, what to do and most important I don't want to be tortured around your web navigating in hope to find your prices. Most of your sales pages are speaking about why someone should hire a copywriter, I bet people do know since they have already searched for copywriters, what I would rather want to know is "WHAT YOU GUYS CAN PROVIDE ME WITH and WHAT THE BENEFITS WOULD BE" and if you want to convince me even better, slap a real testimonial there.

    Just my 2 cents.

p.s. Sorry Dan, had to disagree :p

The design is nice and simple. But it looks like a site made by a pro from 90s. I think its time to give the site a major makeover. I personally think that will help you a lot (I mean a lot).

What you touched upon is information architecture and usability, not design. I was referring to the appearance (look and feel - the visual aspect), not the arrangement of the content/information or how easy it is to use/find my way around the site.

I personally don't think you will be very successful unless you get a native English speaker to do the writing.

Give your visitors a more Call To Action. Most people come to your site and dont know what to do so they leave. Create some form so people can contact you directly, and try to create some sort of activity like a forum or blog so that people can become interactive with you.

Give something out for free aswell. And pick content that stands out and uses a good Call to Action.

I think a unique forum can be very beneficial to you...dont just make it about how you can help ppl etc...offer something valuable and give a reason for someone to join the forum and then it will help you a lot.
