Nobody can tell you which one is the best. However, we can suggest you something based on our experience. I would go with Intel all the way.
I have used AMD ever since I assembled my PC. In my opinion, AMD has the best price/performance ratio
Intel Core 2 Extreme functions no better than a 1.6GHz laptop Centrino CPU. i have never used an AMD. But my brother has.
when you are doing normal everyday activity, it is the same. But when you play game, you will see the different. Google it to see the benchmark
For rsrikanth05 and ahkip : I really do appreciate your suggestions, guys. I need more help here. If you have time, can you help me sending me by PM your best and good price PC spesification? In your own version. Coz I need to buy PC in next 3 days. I read magazine but I think all I need is recommendation from advanced user. Thank you for your help.
Nobody is going to give you the answer you want, because there is no right/wrong answer. AMD and Intel both make processors, their clock speeds are not comparable against each other, the only way to truly know if your proposed CPU is better/worse than its AMD/Intel equivalent one (price-equivalent I mean btw) is by looking for benchmark tests on google. Really if you are going for a new PC, concentrate on a lot of the other components, the CPU and mobo should always be the best you can afford to buy. Don't go sticking in a cheap HDD or a poor brand of GFX carde - these need to be decent too. What about sending me an idea of your budget, a list of what you intend to do, and I'll put you a spec together for your budget. you can then either build this yourself, or purchase it from a system builder (like us obviously) I have a free desktop PC buyers guide available for download on my blog, look near the bottom or in earliest postings (blog in signature). This might help you decide on what to do.
When choosing a processor, you must know the purpose you're going to do with it. AMD processor will doing fine with what you want to do. Good performance with an affordable price. Ignore all the AMD vs Intel comparison benchmark that you see on the net. All of that is only theory. In a real world, it don't show a different so much.
One more thing. AMD's after-sales service is much better, friendlier and faster than Intel. They don't say upgrade if your CPU dies within a month of purchase.
The debate over Intel Vs AMD will go on for ever and any number of threads won't satisfy the die hard fans of Intel and AMD. I have been using both Intel and AMD on my PCs without any problem. The difference? Cost wise, Intel is slightly costlier than AMD but when you compare the performance, both are good when similar configurations are compared. AMD will give more value for you money, imo
Intel is more reliable, and best from the performance/energy unit meter. This is the best choice of processors for today, that why most companies choose Intel, including Apple, HP, Dell and Sony
Not very. My Vista runs on an AMD, and my XP runs on Core 2 Duo. The diffrence in the rated perfomance is 0.8GHz. My Intel is 1.8, and the AMD is 2.6. The AMD was bought 3 months after the Intel, and was way cheaper, almost half the price, it gives me better speed. Apple never chooses correct. They use Toshiba HDDs, when the best are Seagate and Hitachi. HP uses AMD as well.
I have only ised Intel so far (both in desktop and in laptop)...so cant comment on AMD But I am not fully satisfied with Intel
