I could definitely be persuaded by some sort of a 'bribe' although I'm not exactly sure what type of an offer it would take.

I agree with you that you need to decide first if it’s a merchant that you want to promote

Also watch out for bonuses with a BIG catch. Like $10 to sign up may look attractive. BUT you need to make $250 min. in commissions before you ever see that $10 bonus

Well widgetbucks provides $25 as signup .. and cash it out at $100 .. that's just making $75 more ... not a big game .. or is it ? :D

I have never agreed with "minimum payouts". I think if you do the work and get a sale, PAY ME.

I used to offer a sign up bonus for my affiliate program, that was less than the monthly payout, so an affiliate who thought it was "easy money" still had to do some work. Who knows? Maybe it was "wishful thinking" on the part of those who thought it was "easy money", but the sign up bonus actully attracted more than the fair share of "do nothing affiliates". Since I dropped the sign up bonus, I still get a percentage of "do nothing affiliates", like any affiliate program, but that percentage has dropped quite a bit.

In my opinion, most good affiliates are looking for a marketable product that appeals to a wide audience and a fair commission with a reasonable minimum payout. They don't need bonuses or bribes...but, just my opinion.

    good points all around:)

I agree that there should NOT be a minimum payout. Affiliates have earned every penny!

The system of affiliate bonuses should be in line with rewarding those to take the time to join.

Like i'd gladly paypal $10 bucks, as a small thank you for someone that owned a niche phone/calling card site to give us a try by posting up a banner.

But it needs to make sense to give away the money and earn it.

What kind of incentive or model would you like to see?

    discodollars.

    thanks for the compliment.

Pingo was runner up for an award from Linkshare. So we are trying again to win this year.

Any other good bonus/reward models that seem interesting or work for both parties?
