    Hi DP friends,
I plan to buy a new PC. I got confused in choosing processor. Some friends said that pentium is the best while other said AMD is cheaper but same in quality. I know it's been an old war between those two brands, but I need some suggest from my DP friends before deciding.
For information i will use my PC for recording music and do some video editing stuff. I hope some DP friends can give me recommended spesification.
All suggestions and opinions are deeply appreciated.

    Regards,
    Mimm

The one thing that I'm always aware of when buying a new CPU (not that I've done it in a while) is that certain processors only allow you to use certain heatsinks. I'm into 'silent' computing, so the heatsink and cooling is often more important to me than the processor :p

I really don't think it matters if you go with AMD or Intel. It's what you do with it that counts :)

I didn't realize you were going to use your new PC for audio recording. I've setup several PC based audio mastering/sequencing systems, and SILENCE IS GOLDEN!

    Excellent website about silent computing:

    I agree with you...
    AMD is the best choice;)

One of the Computer shop owner told me that he was an INTEL user addict but after years of using it, he found out that AMD is better than INTEL...

in terms of specs and usage....

My Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 rated at 2.0GHZ goes slower than my old Pentium 4 2.8GHz.
If that is the condition, then get an AMD Dual Core.
@ahkip, AMD is better for gaming.
Intel is better for low end.
