Question about Sitemaps in Webmasters Tool

    Hi guys, i checked my sitemap status in webmasters tool and found out something strange.

    Total URLs in Sitemap 125
    Indexed URLs in Sitemap 40

    Why isnt google indexing all my 125 pages?

    That is an interesting point. I have over 1,000,000 urls in sitemap, but only about 22,000 indexed.

    it takes time to get it indexed. Google not only has to index it but categorize it with the rest of the pages on the web, kinda like a filing system.

    GloBleeOne : Google can only handle site maps with 50,000 URLS (source). I normally keep them around the 10k mark.

    Cheers pablo, we have them split over many sitemaps, linked with a sitemap index. Seems to work quite well.

    Also found it useful to gzip them up, saves a heap of space.
