    Hi DP'ers!

I was wondering if it is possible for a .info domain to rank high in google search results... I've been using google search everyday, but i hardly noticed any .info domains in the top listings.

So, does google follow any domain ranking system? I guess since .info is cheap, people use it to make crap sites, so google presumes .info as worthless content...

I'd appreciate your valuable inputs on this.

    Cheers!

They are generally frowned upon as spamming domains, but a decent site with unique content will be ranked just as well as others.

Yes, without a doubt. I actually had a high ranking .info but let it expire.

On the other hand, if you want repeat viewers, almost no one will remember .info.

yes, although it's like winning the lottery. Many can't even get their .info out of the sandbox, let alone on page one.

However, look at prchecker.info - #1 on google for "check page rank", out of almost 9.3 million results

    Wow, this is awesome...

I was under impression that .info domains were totally banned from google search results.. that was an eye opening example.

Thanks a lot for the response!

In fact, stats prove that .info domains rank the best if you capture a keyword and work on that.

Domain name is a factor in ranking..... But Domain TLD is not a factor in ranking.

So if you have a .info domain , it will not affecting ranking. I have seen many website with .info extension with a High PR and high serp ranking.

So nothing to worry about hacking a .info .. its cheap as its new in comparison to other tld like .com or .net ..but i am sure that in the future they will be more costly than .com because the speed users are registering .info domains .. soon i may find my desired keyword rich domain in .com but not in .info

There is no proof that Google shows any specific affection to .com or .org or .net or .info.

Even though the domain extension is not a factor, the domain name, if containing the keywords you are shooting for, will make a difference.

Info com net org have nothing to do when coming to being up there in the rankings. You can do get lowered in terms of rankings if you buy a .info domain and sell products not related to information at all. If you use a .Info domain like it should be, then there is nothing which can push you down the rankings

My best site is a .info and has lots of top 10 rankings in the search engines. Just make sure you build a quality site full of good original content and it should rank as well as any other domain.

Having a keyword rich .info domain can help with your rankings
