A few months ago (27 Sep 2007) I had purchased this Anime site. My hope was to work with the owner at that time to build it into a super site. I even bought another domain, animexstream.com and had the mods and him working on adding in a bunch of streaming anime. I had not got around to getting the site skinned yet (was accepting bids on RAC), but they are still working on getting the stream links in the site. I have 3 mods from the board doing this.

On VIETXANIME, we have been getting a few hundred new members a month which is nice since I have not done any advertising while we worked on uploading more anime, and other things.

I also started doing contests where people would participate in sig of the week for $10 paypal, or gifts for other contributions to the community.

Now, for the why am I selling?
When I took on this project, it was to be a partnership with the old owner. I would buy the site, but he would stay on, and we would work on this, and make some spin off sites.

Well needless to say he vanished. On top of that, he borrowed another $300 which he promised to pay back, and never did. Coming up with classics like, his internet was down, and so forth.

I have many other sites, and developing this site, and the streaming anime is a big chunk of time. Something I do not have as my main bread n butter sites need attention. But I do not want the site to lose value in the meantime.

If you are interested in anime, or have a network. This is something of interest to you. A nice site with growing members (when I bought it, there were just over 2500 members - see link), and decent traffic.

While I have invested in a new server for this, among other expenses, I would accept getting out at cost. If you want the animexstream.com project as well, you can have it. If not, I'll keep it.

You have a handful of mods, and regulars who are uploading and encoding anime to the server. Others who are tracking down links, and putting in the new stream site.

The encoding, and uploading they do in exchange for server space to host their goodies. The streaming anime I do pay them a little extra to motivate them.

With a growing user base, and decent material. This would be a shame to go to waste. Especially when you have mods who will make you the content and do some of the work for you. However, I simply do not have the full time effort needed since the partner split and I have other projects going on.

Revenue Details:

I have adsense on the main page and it gets a few clicks here and there. Nothing special. I was going to have some adsense ads put through the board. But I just did not get around to it.

You do have a dozen who have paid their premium membership, and you could get more over time if you promote it and get a better price point.
Traffic Details:

Most our traffic comes from Referrers (such as other anime, gaming or graphic websites), Search engines, such as Google, Yahoo! or MSN, affiliates and groups scattered over the internet.

There are a few reasons I am looking to sell.

1. I decided not to further pursue the anime market, or need a launching site.

2. The members are uploading full length videos to a server that are becoming more of a resource. While great for the membership area I do not really promote. Those same resources can be better used for other projects I am working on.

This site has a dedicated group or people who process all the videos for the membership area, encode and upload them. You just have to maintain a server for them to put them on.

I ran a sig of the week contest, and gave away money weekly to encourage new members. That you can keep or kill.

This site currently has the main domain vietxanime.com, but all the server files were hosted on a VXAHOSTING.COM domain on my server. I am not sure if you are going to want to peer-to-peer transfer, and keep file structure. But that's the scoop.

I'll even throw in another site to this deal. I had started animexstream around the same time I snagged this message board. I did not complete it as I had gotten involved in other site(s) that are more our core niche.

It would be a shame for me to just delete the content, and sites. I am sure someone in anime could use, or revive them.

How much is hosting ?

 

I have dedicated servers ($150.00 ea. per mo.). Not for this site exclusively. I have many sites.

animexstream is mainly streaming, and links. So not much there needed. As for vietxanime, you need to have hosting that will allow you to have a good HD space. Unless you are going to kill the 90GB of video.

Right now for me, I have these two sites on an extra 500 GB HD on one of my servers. How you do your hosting would depend on how many sites you have I suppose. But you will need some storage space.

Plan accordingly.

I have done nothing with animexstream except have the vietx members put in the videos needed for the site. I never monetized it.

On VIETXANIME I do get the occasional people looking for accesses to members area, but I really have stopped promoting it for some time. I get a few adsense here and there, but this site's kinda been sitting idle other than the members activity since end of last year.

I still pay them for their contests. But that's about all I've done since losing interest in anime, and pursuing other ventures.

I can shoot you some traffic stats from the server. I think it was still in the 200,000 range of alexa.
