I'd rate it a 9, maybe an 8. Reasons being: It's an amazing game, amazing graphics, breakthrough for the game industry to be able to make a game so complex, etc. But theres a few things that bother me a lot about it that they really should have done better. I don't feel as engaged in the storyline as I did in previous GTA's. Walking or running up or down stairs is a bloody slow animation, and annoys me enough to the point that I would rather jump off a building and hurt myself rather than walk down them. Some of the features from GTA:SA that were taken out would have been nice to still have (such as the leveling up of your characters skills, being able to customize his appearance, etc), but I know, they wanted to keep it more like VC and 3. The driving is nippy, you need to get used to it loads. The turning circles of (most) cars are about what they should be for a bus, turning circles of a bus is what it should be for a bloody jumbo jet. Landstakers (ment to be like landrovers) for example should have amazing handling if your wanting to go by the car it's based on in real life, but they don't.
Ok this is the best game I have ever played in my life (360 version). And the guy above just basically gave it an 8 because of a couple little things that bothered him. Come on. Name a game that is as perfect as this one....I would love to see that. There are some little things that are not perfect....I agree with you (shooting something in a helicopter is just about as effective as throwing playdoe at superman to kill him)....but I mean the game overall is so unreal that I really cant give it anything but a 10. And the single player is definitely better than other ones..even though SA had a great single player. I did too many cheats and it got buggy so i couldnt finish it...i hope it doesnt do it in IV because I cheat a lot...i donno why...i find it more fun. One mission you were supposed to chase down and kill someone...at this point in the game you are nly supposed to have a pistol and maybe a knife...i spawned a sniper rifle and shot him on sight...hilarious....i had so much more enjoyment out of that than chasing him and stabbin him..but thats me.
yeh the driving on it certainly takes a lot of getting used too and it can sometimes be a bit too dark, making it tricky to see but apart from that it is an amazingly detailed game. 10/10!!
I wouldn't really say it's the best game i've ever played in my life. But then again, I have played a hell of a lot of games. It was way too hyped up, and I was disappointed. I'd expected more with all the hype that was going on, plus it's not like they couldn't do better. I still liked Vice City the best out of them all. But I like your comparison there it amused me.
I only played it for 30 seconds. the walking was slow, but the graphics were a huge upgrade from last version.
They don't warrent a good opinion. Hype+money=good gamespot review. I'll see what Edge magazine give it. They are hard to impress (with only giving 8 games 10/10 so far, I think it's 8 anyway). I'm thinking either a 9 or 10/10 from them. Might already have done it though, i'm behind on reading them.
Give it a few months, it'll go down. At the moment, its the only 10/10 game there, which to me doesn't make sense.
Yeah but either way, GTA4 is an awesome game. The last game that impressed me the most was Crysis on PC and thats only because of the amazing graphics and physics, the whole story wasn't too bad either. And before Crysis would be COD4 on PC. (yeah i'm a PC gamer, barely into consoles) Taking that in mind, GTA4 still blew me away.
I love the game. I love this one beggar he always says funny stuff makes me laugh so bad here is a quote from one of the guy "mayn this hommie runs like roaches everywhere, someone catch him" lol
