i have tracking from both AwStats and Google Ananlytics, Both are giving quite a different track. Which is more accurate #? Awstats shows more visits Analytics shows less visits.. Thanks
Awstats tends to show bots and counts them like visitors. Have you seen any referrer SPAM in your stats ? Analytics is much better at filtering these out. If you have Analytics on all pages, then I would say that these figures reflect the real visitor count.
google analytics is for more advanced and graphical than aw aw cant trace visitors from dynamic urls and it also doesn't predict the demograph of visitors correctly ( it shows 75% visitors from us , while i get only 5%) i just wonder why google analytics is free
AWStats will analyze your server log files and is the best available at this task. Analytics will monitor your real time traffic through JavaScript added to every page of your web site. They are different tools. Niether of them are 100%, AWStats will as pablo stated sometimes count bots as visitors but if the software is kept up to date this shouldn't be much of a problem. Analytics will fall over if the user doesn't have JavaScript switched on, fortunately most users nowadays don't concern themselves with switching it off so it shouldn't be much of a problem. Best case, use both.
Personally I preffer stat counter because it is real time stats. Though it has made more addicted then usual to my refresh button so that may not be a good thing lol! At least I can stop checking my adsense account every five minutes!
the reason why i bring this up, is im trying to visualize the progress of my traffic. ive started the site in FEB and its grown to this Google Analytics avg 450 Uniques / day Awstats are reaching now 750 Unqiues / day thats a big difference.
