How come some sites get their pages/post index and they rank so high without doing any backlinks or anything. I know this forum asianfanatics.net, its a asian news site. And everytime they post news it automaticallies get indexed in google and ranked so high too. How do they do this, without any backlinks to their news pages?

Search engines probably picked up on the frequency of new pages/posts that it outputs every day, and indexes it accordingly

I'm having the same problem for my site. It seems like there are a few websites out there that target the same keywords as me, have way less inbound links, and low PR for google and YET still ranked higher. :(

Frequently updating your site doesn't guarantee a high ranking does it?

I thinking that you have to get your site really popular at first. And then google willl recognize you, and often visit your site and search for new things. :S

    no backlinks
    Code (markup):
see that's where you're wrong, you don't realize that the site itself (the index) has high PR. So when they post something new, they have a high pr index that's linking locally to the file. The PR get's split, and thus it gets indexed and ranked with the anchor tags of the title - hence why it shows up.

The ranking it gets is temporary, after a day or two or even hours if the keyword is competitive, it will drop down a bit in the serps unless it gets a lot of backlinks during that time - in which case it will continue to rank well.

Moral of the story: Don't neglect the power of the index.

Google give a New Content Boost to new pages and new sites, this boost helps them rank high in search results. But this boost is only temporary.

The sites or pages which you see ranking well ion search results; May be they have this boost too.

how soon your new page gets indexed and gets PR depends on how often google bot visits your site. if you have a busy site with lots of traffic and content, then google bot practically resides on your site and index your new page/article withing few minutes.
