I like this really hot girl and am thinking about asking her out. the only problem is that she is 17 and I am 24. I am not really sure what the social standard is but is that too young or should I just go ahead?
depends on where you live if it'll be bad or not (in the legal sense). But really, i'd say 18's the limit (so, not younger) if your 20-25 by social standards.
Honestly of course there is legality and minors and such, but I think you should do if you really like her and hopefully she likes you too

Depends on what country you're in. In the US, I know a guy who's in jail for statutory rape. He picked her up in a bar...she had ID showing she was 21...she was only 17....they got caught doin' the consentual wild thing by her parents...he's in jail...she's not...it's not worth the risk. I believe the UK age of consent is 16, in the US, who knows? I think each state has it's own idea.
Careful, a lot of girls will say anything if they end up not liking you so much.. You could go to jail for a long time. The laws are definitely slanted toward innocent (looking) girls.

Go ahead. When a girl is at the age of 17 and is about to go to college, the age of the guys she dates doesn't matter anymore. In fact, her family would probably approve of an older guy that went through college already and has a high paying job.
You should not go out with a girl just cause she is hot and good to talk to. So no due to what you have told us so far. Plus no due to the age and legal issues. Even if she openly consents all she has to do is lie and you find yourself registering as a sex offender.
The reason why the law is there is so that older people have a mass amount of knowledge and control over the opposite person. You shouldn't ask her out. You said yourself "a really hot girl". I suppose it'll be easier to "bonk" her since you got 7 years worth of life success to offer. Think about it? Would you have a chance if you were back in time to 17? Keep it legal and honest. You are going to end up getting busted. I'm sure there's plenty of 24 year olds that meet your standards. "really hot".
