Does anyone have any experience with HostGater and their Hosting Plans? I was thinking of starting off with the "Hatchling". Do you have to buy like 1 year at a time, or can you pay monthly. How hard would it be to upgrade from Hatchling to Baby/Swamp?

I've never hosted with them, but know a few who have. Only one person I know complained about them as he wanted to move away from them, and they got a bit funny with him.
Hostgator is extremely reliable and been in business forever. If you want a solid host with no BS - Go with them. Steven
They are a good host, one of the best for quality and support. But there is alot cheaper out there and probably just as good. Upgrading with hostgator is easy, you do it all through their control pannel, but this is the same with nearlly all hosting companies. Send me a PM if your interested in my hosting Thanks, Tom
No they are crap. Dont be client of hostgator. If you have any trouble will them. you will lose account and they dont refund the money. They close my account and never got my money back!!! i can show you mails and the problem why they suspend me if you want.! Hostgator is bad!
I'm guessing you did something wrong malibur, cause no one else has had a problem, just admit you screwed up and don't blame a reputable host.
Support from hostgator is great. Their shared hosting is good for small website, but the dedicated servers are quite slow as far as I'v experienced.
Do you really need all of that space and bandwidth? You would be better off going with a smaller host. - Prilep
I've been with hostgator and they are fine if your site is small. Once you start to get a bit more traffic then they will suspend you without warning.
hostgator is a good host, I have a few packages with them, my personal one I have a couple of forums, and other sites, I get plenty of hits and use a large amount of bandwidth and haven't ever had a problem
