Hi, I noticed that few days ago this appeared on some torrents, emule and so on As well as on respected majorgeek.com Everywhere said that it's already final and will be avaliable via download/windows update on 29th April. So I've downloaded (don't tried previous one cause of beta/rc status). Probably nothing new, but maybe someone can tell what new it contains ? And in Control Panel - System - General it still says Version 2002 (I had Win XP Pro Corporate SP2 before that) but Service Pack 3 is written as well, so I am curious why is so ? Why not Version 2008 ? Thanks!
I don't think there is an official release with that service pack.... but theres a lot of XP installer out there with tons of hot fix already with it...
What exactly ? Installing programs ? P.S. I don't defrag my disks for years, maybe it's the reason too
According to Microshaft, SP3 will be the last service pack for XP. If you're a TechNet or MSDN subcriber, you can find links to the install here. That's an infinitely better choice than the hacked version available via torrent. If you like the idea of some pasty-faced Eastern European backdooring your OS, however, be my guest. Since compatibility issues have already been identified, I highly recommend that all other Windows XP users (those who are not software developers and who have a minimum regard for their pc security) wait until the fixed version is available at Windows Update. Just my 2 cents. Take it for what it's worth.
