VPSSell Review - VPSSell fraud - VPSSell scam

Just wanted to post a quick review on VPSSell.com. This is a 100% horrible company to do business with. We originally chose them to help launch our new GlobalWebX free hosting service, which was supposed to have fully launched by now. They were a new company, but had good prices, and the owner (mdshah) seemed to be active on WHT and cared for his customers. I know what it's like having started several new hosting companies, and I knew that just because a company is new does not mean it is no good.

So, we signed up for a VPS from VPSSell.com. It took a couple of days to setup the server, but once it was up, it ran very well. I had a couple of setup questions for VPSSell.com, and they were very helpful in answering them. All went well, so we purchased a LayeredPanel license, and paid to have LP install it on the server. This took a couple of days, and then we spent some more time painstakingly putting finishing touches on the Website, server configuration, LP configuration, and forum.

On April 29th, I received a notice from VPSSell.com stating the following:

Fair enough. Sounds simple and straightforward. Unfortunately, in the mid-afternoon of April 29th, the server went completely down. I was alerted to this by an associate of mine, who was working on configuring the forum at the time. I told him about the maintenance alert, and assured him it should be back up by the next evening (I just assumed the maintenance had started early).

So, the next day, at 10 PM EST, late that evening, the site was still not back up. Figuring there may have been a few hitches in getting things running, I waited until the next morning (May 1). At this point, many other VPSSell.com users were posting on WHT and mentioning the same problem. None of their servers had come back up, and they (and I) were now very concerned. We contacted the user mdshah on WHT (again, he owns VPSSell.com, and appears to be the only employee) through private message, and heard nothing back. We (I and other VPSSell.com users) tried again and again to get in touch, and still nothing. Finally, on May 2nd, the user mdshah posted the following in a thread on WHT (but he did not reply to any of his customer's PMs!):

Am I incorrect in seeing a problem where the manager/owner of a service has his service go completely down and does not reply to his own customers (many of whom - like me - are paying $50.95 per month for service!) for 3 days??? The server has been down for over 4 days now, and still no promise of a refund. mdshah is also pretty much refusing to cancel anyone's account. I have threatened to sue (and will follow through with this, to recover the $50.95 as well as other damages related to no access to the server, and to cover court costs).

Basically, I can say that VPSSell.com is a scam - and I really recommend you stay away from them. From now on, I will go with trusted companies - who care about their customers.

Another tidbit: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showpost.php?p=5089950&postcount=5 - over 9 hours of downtime in late April.

Indeed it is. I wanted to help out the little guy (because our company was the little guy once), but I know now that it is not worth it. I should have gotten a dedicated from XLHost or HostGator - would've been much better off.

think only about your credibility as host , your credibility is in the game , you had luck because your service wasn't officially started .

Users don't like the downtime , they are not interested how much you want to help a guy, they are interested only about their sites and will blame you not him for the days of downtime.

You are right. Luckily, our main service (f r e e z o k a) is hosted on a more robust platform! I will do the same for GlobalWebX.

So they might be with Burst.net then ? That should explain the cheap prices on their VPSs :p

Good Luck, sorry to hear that it went wrong!

    Yes, they do use BurstNET.

Cameron, that is very interesting that it's just modified - something fishy is going on with this whole situation. Really irritates me!

Thanks for the good wishes. Now, we must start all over in setting up GlobalWebX. :(

This is so funny, where did you get this template?

I am reading the link from webhosting talk, i don't understand how it was linked to hostingspace4u because hostingspace4u is just a reseller of gbhoster.com

The first downtime was due to BURSTNET , even one of our servers experienced it (3 short downtimes).

I have read that BurstNET suspend servers for abuse, really fast , but I have never experienced it.

Anyway, choose a well-known provider , from next time :)

hostingspace4u.net is not a reseller of any company. He is the server owner. And hostingspace4.com is the reseller of gbhoster, Infact, he is not a reseller , hostingspace4u.com = gbhoster.com = same guy = viral.

Well, Cameron, dont ask me proof :p

hostingspace4u.net WAS my Alpha Master reseller, before some 8 months. And I personally dont think he is a scammer .

    Regards

So my judgement in this whole brouhaha: burstnet should share the fault or damages their customers have had because of their network problems and abuse policies. vpssell is just one of the victim too, just like vpssell's customers.

This makes me NOT wanting to be hosted by burst. At first, I was planning to get a dedi server from them but i do not want to experience what vpssell experienced. I repeat, he's also a victim. Burst should take part of the blame and help their customers. That's called CUSTOMER SUPPORT.

I read webhostingtalk.com 7-page thread and I read everything bit by bit.

From my understanding, vpssell did not abuse their server but a client of theirs abused. But burst instead of properly coordinating with vpssell, got the site and all its clients suspended. added to the gravity of the matter is the downtime of burst network, the 2 companies were not able to "coordinate properly". Emails sent by burst did not reach vpssell and emails sent by vpssell did not reach burst. But I agree that burst should have contacted the client via telephone perhaps to notify him about the abuse. Also, most clients of vpssell got pissed off because of burst networks downtime, hence they left vpssell. This is not vpssell fault - this is something lacking on the part of burst. And burst, instead of apologizing to what happened, got mad to the client! All I can say is... WOW.. What a great customer service *sarcastic*
