I think you guys are being too hard on google. Really, why would a blogger comment with thousands of links in a short time with title of "THE LOWEST VIAGRA PRICE GUARANTEED. Fast Shipping"? be suspicious? How could they detect that? It would take at least like a two minute regex and their Ph.D.s have bigger fish to fry.

GOOGLE is a robot, you all seem to be missing this, it's primary function is to find great content and index it for it to be shown to it's users when they search.
This can be very easily manipulated because Google is a robot not a human, it doesn't have eyes, it can just process text and go through links and if it seems good then it indexes.
Real humans sometimes moderate the SERPs if there are complaints but that's it.
What Google-Bot doesn't seem to understand is that 'if it's too good to be true, it usually is'
If your really white hat and in it for the long run then report it to Google and wait for it.
It may take time but helps Google for future indexing and if they need to make changes to their algorithms

    Tobidotman,

You are right; Google is a robot, not a human. But what everybody is complaining about is algorithm for that robot. The issue of crap comments making to top slot on Google SERP is because Google is giving undue weight to comments on quality sites.

As I foresee Google will fix this issue after some time by updating their algorithm. Thats what they have been doing for so long :)

I'm pretty sure he's ranking because of the backlinks and not the domain.

I've been watching this person or people do this trick for a while now its nothing new... And since google is not going to penalize their own domain (blogger) it will prob take the manual spam patrol to come in and wipe it from SERPS...

There's no reason not to penalize the comment pages of blogger - they shouldn't be ranking in the first place.

Why not report spam to google by using webmaster tools "Report spam in our index" form. I think this form is created by Matt to serve this purpose.

Wow he has like 1200 links to that comment - that's a lot of work gone into that.

I reckon he has software or possibly a team of fellow spammers.

Report is to let google make judgement on his practice. Google will not kill him if his practice is ethical.

Looks like he is using xRumer to build backlinks to the blog comments.

I might be in the minority, but you should report this guy. If nobody reports stuff like this, Google will never modify their algorithm to detect it. Viagra has 85 million competing pages. This guy could replicate his success in any niche, and it could be our niche next. :(

    For what purpose?

I did decide to report him, although I don't really think they'll really do anything about it. Hopefully one day this loop hole will be closed.

But yes the point you are making about him replicating his success in any niche is one I'm trying to make. If it's as easy to do this as it seems to be - soon it'll be happening in all kinds of niches.

At least one would assume. Perhaps there's something about "adult" niches that is making this easier to do in them? I've long suspected that Google has weird filters for adult search results - and perhaps that weird filter is enabling this to be easier with a keyword like "viagra" than it would be with a keyword like "web hosting." So far I've only been noticing these weird results (with blogger comments and website profiles... for example youtube.com profiles) for adult related searches.

Good. You are not only doing yourself a favor, but hopefully preventing this from happening to other honest webmasters.

Very true. But then again he may stick to the spammy niches in an attempt to avoid detection.

Adult and pharmacy related niches are probably more capable of handling complaints from all the automated forum, blog, etc. posting he is doing. Some of the operators in these niches have separate BP (bullet proof) hosting so they can accept orders from E-mail spam. It's a good match for a forum spammer.

Just looking at the backlink profile for the blog comment page, it's a no brainer that the backlinks are created from spam postings. Google should act quick on this, but often times they do nothing. It will be interesting to see how quick they respond to this, so please post back if anything changes.

    Good luck.

Whatever you guys may have to say, but this guy's genius is in the simplicity.. TRULY a genius, just like Frankenstein.

We are talking about reporting to google..
What are you going to report?

And why should google ban blogger.com from serp...

It will need a strong filter mechanism to stop this thing from ranking.
For one blogger is a domain

And this guy can generate this blogger/yewr8u4q5uoeun type of pages by the thousands..

What is going to ban.. because some could be genuine sites...

I think he has thought of all this.. This guy....

One hell of a spammer.. for tramadol. he ranks right behind wikipedia and drugs.com

    I just can't stop laughing....

I often read alot of these styles of posts, about black-hat, grey hat, cheating, etc... SEO is like my local interstate. The speed limit is 55mph. Most, will drive 55 mph (White hat?), some will "sneak" and drive 65mph (Grey hat?), and some will drive 75mph (Black Hat?). The moral of the story... We all have a destination we want to get too, and different ideas on how to get to our destination. Some, will usually arrive safely at the destination they desire, some may crash along the way. Just because you drive 75mph doesn't mean you will crash for sure. Yes, better chance of it, but not always. The guy that was banned from Google in the message above... Look at it like this. He had his drivers license revoked, but still drives and actually drives 75mph. He still arrives at his destination.

    How fast do you drive???

This must be your first encounter with this black hat method. It's happened before and will happen again. In fact, this is one of the methods xRumer users share with each other to make $ from their forum spamming software.

Google should act on it because the backlink profile for the blog page consists of only forums, classified ad sites, blogs, guestbooks, and other unsecured areas where people can post spam links. It's a slam dunk link spam case. How quick Google responds is another story...

The guy is not a genius. He is just following other forum spammers foot steps. For $450 we could all be a genius. :)
