There is an updated version of the test and according to wikipedia only the dev builds of Safari and Opera passed the test. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acid3
Agreed. Wikipedia so sucks these days, especially with their crappy notabilty guidelines. IE 8 has passed the Acid2 test, Firefox 3 has not.
I'll give you three reasons why IE took so long to update. 1. Success is the company of complacency......go figure 2. Microsoft is a big company and they have their hands in a lot of different projects. IE is just one of them. 3. After winning the battle against Netscape, they were so exhausted after the fight that they kicked back and put their feet on the table while the guys form FF (former IE developers I think) were angry about not getting a pay increase and the rest is history. lol....
Comparing FF to IE, in my experience: FF loads faster IE crashes my up to several times a day (depending which operating system I use), while FF crashes it, uh, never. FF has a load of ultra-useful add-ons I don't care which one "wins", as long as they adhere to standards. One poster said he didn't care about standards; imagine trying to use telephones or cars without agreed standards!
Very good points And the BEST reason.. NO ACTIVE X so spyware cant automatically install. This is the biggest reason NOT to use IE MS should dump activex and once and for all put an end to all the spyware that sneeks in via IE. Other benefits Real tab browsing that works, IE tab browsing sucks. Better Popup Blocking Found this page which shows several benefits http://www.switch2firefox.com/whyswitch/
