well i was at a Party last night and me and my friend were talking about old times and all of us were laughing at one of my friend's friend because of the stuff he did and out of no where this guy throws a beer bottle at me, and the bottle breaks right in my face and my nose is all cut up and i have over 10 cuts on my arms ...and it turns out he has anger managment issues...i was wondering if i can sue or something!??

    thanks for any help! :)
I live in U.S btw...what are my rights to sue him and stuff?!?

If it was me I would have stomped a mud hole in his ass and walked it dry. Then I would have kicked his ass a second time for wasting beer.

To answer your question there ain't really anything you can do unless you filed charges on him.

Of course it would depend by state, country you live in, local laws as well.

Doesn't sound like a 'fight' though, sounds like someone threw something at you ;)

yes you can sue the guy and you already have witnesses as well so...

maybe he's just sharing the bottle and you are just a bad catcher :p

I should have said 'where it happened' not live.

More than likely though it would not be worth suing over and at best you should have reported it to local law enforcement.

Sue happy are you? Shit happens, not everything is worth suing over, nor will everything net you a gain from a lawsuit.

You would need to contact the police to find out what 'would happen'

Urge him to get an account here on DP and then we'll all red rep him.

In the uk you could get compensation if you reported it to the police, not sure if this happens in the US tho. When i got knifed in the chest i got 7000 pound ($14,000) in compensation so you might get a nice pay out (i have a big scar). Would be better then going around and sueing and taking him to court.

Hey, if you didn't do anything to him then, you could sue him.

bro...my face and nose is all cut up...if it was a black eye or somthing yea i could let it go...but not a beer bottle....

well after i cleaned my face i chased him and torqued him down to the floor but i was like it's not worth it...and my face started bleeing again so i had to go to the bathroom again clean it up...

other than that nothing....but if i sue what will happen?! will he go to jail?!

if you sue him you *might win some money* *you might loose money* but i dont think he will go to jail because of a bottle. how old are you any way?

Plus 'jail' would usually come from reporting it to the police, not a civil law suit. Not reporting it to the police could also hurt your chances in a law suit ;)

You do realize it was a criminal act, if anything he should be tried via criminal, you honestly are coming off as just wanting money.

If it was that easy and profitable to sue, everyone would be doing it..

If your case involves personal injury it will only be heard in the Small Claims Court if you are claiming £1,000 or less for your injury. But as grim said you really should let the poilce know so they can record it.
