Importance of Title tag and Alt tag in keyword density

    Hi
I have a two fold question here for seo experts.
#1 : Is it good to use title tag in anchor tags and Alt tag in Image tags to increase keyword density? What is the limit of characters we should put ideally on such tags?

#2: What would be the impact of increasing keyword density on overall onsite SEO of the page? Does that gives advantage on ranking well for keywords?

I invite an interesting debate on this subject.

Hi i believe the recommended limit of words in your title tag is about 5, as for the image tags i am not too sure, the anchor text should include your main keywords and most assumably the words that are included in your title tag.

Secondly the effects of increasing the keyword density would be positive unless you was to go over the top and make the keyword density over 7-9% this is the recommended maximum i believe. The effects of having the keyword density at about 7% would be that you should see your site move up in the search engine ranking positions for certain keywords that you have implemented in to your website.

    Will.

alt tags should be used naturally to describe the image. if keywords fit, use them, otherwise its spamming. title tags dont seem to make very much difference, anchor text is the important one.

and keyword density is a bit of a myth from what I can gather. as long as it's no higher than 7% it should be fine.

IMO, keyword density has not a big factor on SEO... Keep focusing on how you optimize your Title Tag and Alt tags...

Keyword density is a fossile when it comes to search engine optimizing; writing content naturally for visitors will provide the search engines with enough keywords. Do not write content for search engines, write it for your visitors. Below is a link to an article called Keyword Density of Non-Sense that was written by Dr. E. Garcia and explains how in current modeled search algorithms it would be useless to use any form of keyword density factor.

I know this doesn't belong here, but I'm looking for someone I can hire to market our new real estate website www.landinthesun.com (SEO, Meta tags, HTML, reciprocal linking, etc.). The work would be daily for about 2 hours each day and ongoing.

If anyone knows anyone that might be interested, please have them email me at frank@landinthesun.com (email only-please no calls yet). Or if you know of the correct forum to place the ad please let me know.

    Sorry if this is misplaced.

This would be best placed in the Services board, but I don't think you have enough posts yet to put it there. Anyway, I'd contact either Web Gazelle (he works at SEO.com), sweetfunny, or ssandecki if you want to have search marketing work done. I'd be happy to help, but I focus my expertise on the technical side, rather than the marketing (I have a far different idea of "search engine marketing" than many SEMs do, and I'm trying to see for myself if it is indeed so profitable that it makes traditional SEM look like a joke before I recommend it to others).
