Hello, I have a site I made for a friend's pub/eatery and was looking for some opinions. Went with a very simple look/approach. No flash or other annoying stuff, just some good old HTML and php/mysql. Thoughts, suggestions? The menu is driven by a custom script I bought that allows the owner to update his menu, specials, etc., himself. Same thing with the gallery script. Thank you. http://nextdoorpub.com
this is very good, you don't need fancy stuff like flash when your doing a website like this! just need to display the information that you need to display and you did a good job of that!
My first thought looking at the site was that the pictures are distorted in shape. I personally saw it as I usually do on sales websites were the template has reshaped the picture to fit a min/max setting instead of being artistic which I am assuming you did. But don't just take my word on it, others may see it artistically since they may not be so familiar as I am on that subject.
Yeah, the pics are just an example till he gets me actual pictures of his food.. This is a mock up, so I did not really get the perspective right, I just grabbed some stock photos and slapped it together. So you are right, they are distorted. Anyway, my wife thinks there is too much white space. She suggested using the Green or some other colour on the back ground to knock out some of the white space.
I like it. As long as the site is kept updated with new items, specials, coupons, etc, it should do well...
Well, I took my wife's advice and threw in the solid background color. I think it gives it a bit more punch.
Much better. I knew there was something else that didn't quite look right but I couldn't put my finger on it. You owe your wife now.
That I do... I'll make sure she knows that. Going cruising on the Grande Belle tonight on Geneva Lake, so I will make sure she knows... It's a black tie event, though I think I am going without a tie!
You dont need a web 2.0 template or anything like that , its simple/neat perfect for what its being used for.
