Hello, I need some advise on URL Submission to Google, Yahoo! or Free Listing directories. My objective is to drive more traffic to my website. I've told not to submit URL to Yahoo! or Google. This is because only loser do that. What other alternative ways that i can promote my website to drive in more traffics? From my knowledge I can promote via PPC, write free article and insert URL signature for forum and email. Please help me. Many thanks in advance.
Well i really dont know who told you that and i have no idea why could submitting to Google or Yahoo meant that youre a loser
One of the Google AdWords Certified Professional. I do not want to mention name here. To him, probably what he meant is by submitting URL to search engines, you are forcing your website to be listed and not by nature. It is something like i force you to visit my website and grab my product. It does not create natural traffic when someone search a keyword then drive to my website. Correct me if i am wrong.
Whoever said that is a liar. Go ahead and submit those links - if Google and Yahoo! didn't want you submitting them, they wouldn't offer those services to Web site owners to begin with. Of course, you should get at least one incoming link to your Web site from an external resource (another Web site). For promoting your site, you might want to read the Search Engine Optimization FAQ from SitePoint as it contains some good pointers on how to promote a Web site to the search engines.
There is no need to worry about submitting your site to Yahoo and Google directory. Google use Dmoz for their directory, so you will actually submit your site to dmoz, and it takes like a century to get approve. Yahoo directory; If you go with the paid to review option which cost $299, then your site have a chance to be accepted, otherwise, yahoo don't accept many sites.
Theres no such thing as submissions to SE (msn yahoo google) You get backlinks and get crawled natural ... As for a dir list use mine : http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=788669 Enjoy ...
Oh really? Then what do you call this? Wishful thinking? Search Engine Submission URLs Google Yahoo! MSN Live Search
submitting to directories will only delay your blog/site to be indexed. because directory submission take long usually approval for site submission take months 6 months for yahoo i think. i have read in one of seo ebooks that its better to make backlinks from authority sites such as social networking sites, to get your site indexed quickly.
I have the same thinking as you Dan. And created doubts when my friend told me that. Also thanks for the link, i will look into it. Thanks for your input. Thanks for your input and link. Before this have you submit your url to SE? If yes what are the difference and result you can observe from? Thanks, it's the social bookmarking technique. thanks for refreshment and maybe w3bmaster also not aware of URL submission. forgive him bro. yes i wanted too. i am still waiting for DP when can they allow me to do so. as i just join one or two days ago. Thanks for sharing. Thanks for encouraging. is it guaranteed? just kidding
Oh Dan, You are all always posting great information for readers. W3Master is Sick Person, forget him.
the only way that it could "hurt" you is if you resubmitted it far to regularly, say every hour for a few months.. that would certainly result in a delisting.. but thats just common sense!
They'd probably be far more likely to block your IP address actually (the one to your computer, not your server).
Thanks for your input. I heard that before. If you are lucky they block your IP for certain a period of time say 3 - 6 months. Otherwise for life! And that would be awful.
Getting your website in Google and yahoo is easy, just comment on a few blogs and leave your website address. you will be in Google within days. If you submit manually to the search engines it will take weeks. PPC is great "if you have a winner". The website must convert with organic search engine traffic and you can base the ppc bid on the conversion ratio. Hope this helps.
