They charge 10% commission??? Is this not gouging? Seem like a crazy high rate to be charging.

So just for listing pizza.com they got 260000?? lol damn.

10% is a little steep when selling "super domains" like Webmaster pointed out. For some reason I have a feeling they make a deal with Sedo and end up paying less commission but they get the same "exposure." That's the only reason Sedo is decent (and I use that term EXTREMELY loosely).

sedo is such a place where you get more price than what you expect, so 10% is not expansive.

most of the time it's a buyer you wouldn't have had otherwise, so you must factor in that 10% into your price already. nobody is making you sell, they are technically bringing you the sale rather than someone contacting you through your website/whois info.

Im very surprised there has not been a competitor step up and put them out of business by offering

    1) A better less glitch site

    2) Charging commisions 5% or lower.

With decent advertising you would think they could run sedo into the ground if sedo didnt lower their rates.

Imagine a real estate agent telling you they charge 10% commish...you would laugh in their face.

    Yea they're pretty steep.

I was offered $75 for a domain, they wanted to take $50 of the $75 for something called the "less sedo fee"

yea $50 is the minimum sedo fee, actually it is not that bad cause they offer escrow service for free (escrow.com take 5% too)..and listing is free

They charge you $50 min if the domain is not parked with them and just 10% on any amount if it is parked with them. I've only had luck with one domain there, lain.in, which sold for $200 and I got $180 of it.

don't list with them then, they are not public service. If they can't profit from you why would they provide you service

exactly good advice, I just have my domains on there for sedo parking (which i might even take off too) since i only get 2-3 cents per click. Sedo is a major rip off.

Sedo dominate the market for sales like this so they can get away with charging what they like. The fact is Sedo is the place where you can often get a good price for your name but you will have to account for the commission rate when you set your reserve price.

I agree, it is very disappointing that there is no one else out there to give them competition. I have a friend that ended making very little after they took out their commissions.
I guess they are good if your domain is worth tons of money.

But even then you are paying thousands just for them to put aname on a page lol.
Imagine a monster domain. You get 10 mil for it and sedo gets a million dollars just to throw a name on a page lol. Those guys must be loaded.

Its almost equivalent to you selling a house and then giving the agent $1 000 000 of the $10 000 000 sale. Only difference is Sedo has an EASIER job than real estaste agents. lol
