    nah, it's just a very popular fashion for the indian ladies. if I'm correct.

    I wonder why other piercings didn't get as popular, or why americans get nose piercings out of rebeliousness

    lots of explanations for that, it is a sign of a married woman and is supposed to make child birth easier (go figure). North Indians wear it on the left side whereas south Indians wear it on the right. Before piercings were regarded as a mark of beauty and social standing... now its just a form of expression...
