those aren't facts, it is justification for animal abuse from a pro-islam website. Answer this simple question. If you were being killed would you; a) want to have you throat cut and bleed to death over the course of a minute, or b) be rendered unconscious and then have you throat cut.
My answer is Neither! As I said both ways are similarly cruel. Islamic animal abuse? Have you seen how seals are killed in Canada? How foei gras are prepared in France? How cows are slaughtered in the USA?
Stox, you are in denial, the being rendered unconcious method has been scientifically proven to be very painful, where as the Halal method has been proven that the animal feels no pain at all. Mabye you will eat Halal food instead of supporting the such inhumane way non Halal food is killed! And oh im so sorry for getting my source from an Islam website, mabye I should of got my source from an anti-islam website.
No worries on that, he had his source from a Western organization Farm Animal Welfare Council while you have yours from an Islamic one. Fair and square.
My source had results from a scientific experiement, you can't get any better than that. If Stox won't accept it, then where do we go from here? He will only accept sources that fit with his beliefs, otherwise you are branded a liar.
As I always said we are in discussions in a forum, it is perfectly alright to have differing opinions but we should respect each others' opinions and to agree to disagree on certain aspects that after prolong discussions, both sides are still fully convinced they are right. Whatever it is, I feel that it is imperative to have at least a basic respect for a fellow member.
stOx please man...if you really wanna help the animal...change the way you think......you live as a human so think about the human b4 thinking as an animal..... and refer to your question do you chose how do you wanna die? or the killer who wants to kill you chose how he wants to kill you...... most likely the second option
i did a quick search on the net but did not want to post it because it is such a twisted think to think about but you brought it up. http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/40026 i am sure it applies to the animals also. would you want to make fishing illegal also. easy to ask other people to make sacrifices for our peace of mind but is it fair
Both ways are painful for the animal cutting its throat with knife or first stunning it with a blow on the head then slashing it head off. Although second one hurts 2 times, first the blow on the head or electrical stunning then the actual cutting of the head. Halal or Kosher is done for the people who going to eat the meat of that animal. In this way all the blood drained from the meat. So meat carries fewer germs or diseases, stay fresh for the longer period of time. Meat with blood in it is dark in color while the without blood looks pink and fresh in color. So if its looks fresh and healty chances are it is. Only reason that stunning and slaughtering method is used and supported because it saves them precious 5 minutes and increase production. They care less about the health of the people who are going to eat that meat or for that animal. Do you still think it should be illegal? If you still don't like animals being killed, be a vegitarian. There is no shame in it.
stOx some of your posts make me wonder if your vision of atheism isn't really just another religion, at war with the competing religions, with no promises or guarantees for the afterlife. If you're gonna push a non-religion like its religion, it needs to have some sort of benefits or future offers of such. This is implied with the repeated use of the word "humane." I am assuming this is the position he's advancing. Poor plants. No one ever gives the plants any respect.
you make a good point... yeah you know some people actually have relationship with animals so they must protect it since its their official partner i guess...they are worry about animals but not about their family or their neighbor who is suffering.....the world has changed to a different level.....
this is not very important for the discussion, but I'd like to point out that the blood of a healthy animal is not 'full of germs and diseases'. It may though work as an efficient culture medium if it gets contaminated with germs from outside (for example from the animal's fur or the butcher's hands).
I guess in your world you are only capable of having empathy for humans, and not have any compassion for any other living creature. An animal that has a central nervous system, has the ability to feel pain like we do. Not only that, they also feel fear. Are you pretending that you are taking some moral high road by defending slashing an animals throat and let it bleed slowly to death? That is the sickest crap I've ever heard. Yes, the world has changed to a different level...
There is absolutely nothing wrong with an Atheist or a topic created by an Atheist, it is a valid topic that makes us aware of the other dimension of animal sufferings.
I don't particularly agree with your description this is the sickest crap ever, but what is the method you approve of? The act of killing a living being is not something to be taken lightly. It is my understanding that the reason behind halal food and kosher food is precisely the reason you oppose it. It is thought to be more humane and a safer way to slaughter animals. Now, it seems to me the issue is a factual one where nobody here as offered anything worthy to consider as evidence of the pain or suffering felt by an animal slaughtered by various proposed methods. The other aspect of the ritual slaughter I would have though you would like. I believe that a prayer is said to honor the animal that is giving its life so that we can eat. My person feeling is that I am for the humane treatment animals, but I recognize them for what they are - animals not humans.
In my life, I try to live without harming others to the best of my ability. I don't eat animals, so I cannot say I approve of either method. The halal and kosher method, does seem more barbaric to me. p.s. I don't think the prayer makes the animal feel any better about it.
in 2003 The Farm Animal Welfare Council (UK) called to Halal and Kosher slaughter 'must end' . But it seems they have failed And you can search for experiment of Professor Schultz and his colleague Dr. Hazim of the Hanover University, Germany about this topic
I don't think the veggies feel any better about your not eating meat. I remember reading about an interesting experiment about plants many years ago. I looked and didn't find it but I found this interesting one - which touches on some of the same things. Anyway, I think it is pretty cool stuff to contemplate.
