Hello, I am looking to buy a used domain name here from another digital point forum member, but i am unfamiliar with the transfer process. lets say I by the domain from the DP member who has it registered with godaddy Do i have to have a godaddy acount to accept the transfer? I currently have all my domains through yahoo domains, (I know they are not the cheapest) but can I get the domain transfered there? Will yahoo charge me for the transfer? What do i have to do in my yahoo account in order to accept the transfer? How long does the process take?
yes, you can get the domain transferred to Yahoo domains. Tell the current owner to unlock the domain and provide you with the transfer authorization key of the domain. You can then begin the transfer process by contacting Yahoo. Yahoo will ask for the authorization key. Once the transfer is initiated it may take 6-7 business days to complete. yahoo will charge you some bucks(usually, the amount for the 1 year domain registration) Why do you want to pay more money by registering domains at Yahoo? There are many registrar that offers domains at the half prices as that of Yahoo. However, it is your money. You can spend it as you want.......
yeah about that, I started with them back when I was just starting out and just continued with them because I already had the account open and it was just easier than going and finding a new one. I only have 3 but I plan on getting more so it will start to add up. But now with my new knowlege on how to transfer them Ill switch to a cheaper host. Any suggestions? Thanks
