To lure more video gamers to a video games blog, do you think that the header image should include a game render or something different? I'm asking so that way, I can get regular visitors for my blog.
Game alot is my suggestion. Make friends/join clans on multiplayer games and just spread your site through viral marketing.
I agree with Panzer, but your header image idea sounds good too. What you could do is maybe create a video review of a new game and post the video on youtube or something that can get you a lot of traffic if you use the right tags. -- Hamish
Don't play a lot! It's not a practical advice I think...May be you have to put some demo (with presentation of various games) in your home page...
Way ahead of you. I'm trying to add different content per day. I interviewed a mod team about their mod and told them the due date was today, but they never sent the interview back to me.
I see. Well i think the best way is just to keep promoting your blog. I think there're several ways to do that such as banners, text ads, spread the words to your local area and something like that.
A catchy header will attract people to read once on the site but will not help to get them there. Try adding your links in gaming forums and comment on other gaming blogs.
try focusing on specific games you play and are huge GTA IV lots of poeple like and also do search about it, so if your blog can provide some thing good secrets or some thing new yopu will get visitors more and more
Concentrating on a game like GTA IV would have been great to start about 2 months ago, there has been lots of news etc about the coming release but there will still be a huge market out there for this!
Video game banner (and cool looking layout & visuals) might have *some* effect... but much more important is to make sure your blog is so darn interesting that it gets people to talk about it & to want to get back later.
Youtube only works depending on what it is. Say you blog about cheats and glitches. VERY good for Youtube. Game Review, also good. Game Play footage, not so much because no one will click on the link to the site. And personally, game renders always make the site more "cheap" looking than sites that have professionally styled headers, or even plain headers. If you look around, almost all larger sites have the simplest header possible. This makes the header brand able and it makes the site look better. When I was learning about designing logos and headers, I was told to not add to many colors or images to the header. To much of that will draw away the attention of the visitors changing the design of the page for them. You can always put a render in the logo, but keep in mind. Most always the children are the ones to appreciate the header more. But, a game blog would probably have more kids any ways. It's your choice.
it's still useful way to get people to know about your game... they might share the video and it might end up getting good number of hits ...and some of those will come to your site & buy.
