Lol, me too. Although I had noticed a tiny bit more traffic - y'know, something along the lines of an extra two people a day - and wondered if some sort of update had been made. Now I know.

The ridiculous thing is that even though my sites never seem to get anywhere I do! I googled my name the other day (as you do - lol) and to my amazement discovered I was number 2 on page 1 of Google! I've been writing some articles recently that have been popular, but still that was completely unexpected, and not too bad out of 300,000+ entries (Yes, my name's a very common one (Irish - lots of us) and not exciting Irish, either.

But that google-fabulousness doesn't really help me much, does it? Do you think that if I plastered my name all over my sites in heading tags they'd get slightly better traffic?

 

Yeah its quite strange Because I have a nice back Link from Wikipedia pagerank 6 , and a few other page rank backlinks from other websites I thought it should have made a difference.

Wikipedia links are nofollow links. Wikipedia has spammed me. I can't put my link in Wikipedia to get traffic. You will get traffic but not PR because the link is nofollow.

 

Yeah I concur with the update. Many of my sites regained PR5/PR6. And a scattering of PR1 became PR4.

I'm just surprised that one PR5 site (travel and tours) dropped to PR0.... and it doesn't sell links!! Just tickets.

 

but a wikipedia link would be a "no follow" link and would therefor not increase your page rank, correct?

 

i also see that my blogs rank the same, they are still PR4

 

It does not matter that you are the first or not,
since yesterday we had seen that people places stupid thread on PR update.
That person was thinking that he had got 5 PR, because he had checked in some tool like SEOpen.
And in Google toolbar and seoquake there were PR 4.
And people wishes him without looking on his site.

 

Oh So No Follow Links are useless then , but i still have other backlinks with high page ranks

 

Hi, my google toolbar showed Green 4 for my site. I think Google rolling his Pagerank update again now. What is your PR now?

 

Has google gone crazy... It has gone back to the PR algo of 2 years back... All my sites have gained pr is the range of 2. ie... all pr 2 and 3 are now 4 and 5.... A pr 4 auto site has now become pr 5 and such like... PR 5 for an Auto site used to take ages and thousands of links.. Is this temporary, I mean the update is going on now so is this a momentary glitches....

What r you guys seeing?

Man... even my entertainment site is PR 5 now.... Time to start link sales thread...

I'd say, the PR now is at least proportionate to the SERP rankings

I got a blog that jumps to PR4 too.

 

Two of my sites finally went up, one went to pr3 and the other to pr2, last update they were at zero so I must not have had any backlinks etc yet.

edit: three of my sites went up .

No change in my PR3 site......was expecting a "4"
