Hi, I have 4 non-english arcade sites, quite sucesseful (up to 40K uniqes daily) and 2 english sites (see sig) also relatively sucessuful (gamesoid - 15K uniqes daily, and Lanagames is new site). I also just released my first dress up game : Lana On The Beach I want my game to be on as much sites as possible, so I'm giving away 10000 aracdebanners impressions for webmasters who put my game on it's site, read more here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=801205 Cheers, N.
One site is definitely better, unless you have two or more sites that have totally unrelated game content, like n971. I like the larger thumbnails on the Lanagames site - these help the user select a piece of content quickly instead of having to browse around.
Marketing and promoting one Arcade is generally easier then trying several at one time. Although it can be done. I personally have owned several arcades at once. I talk a lot about owning an Arcade site and cover several topics in my publication ArcadeProfits. The book will be ready for download in just a few days. I certainly cover alot of great issues and get in depth with alot of questions and answers. The arcade industry is very exciting. I think everyone should have atleast one.
I think as with any type of online venture you need to "niche out" your arcade. There are thousands and thousands of sites competing for the same half a dozen popular keywords. If you niche out a bit into a racing site, golf site, dress up, etc., etc. its a bit easier to get some serp results. I've done this on a few sites that are a "niche within a niche" with what are considered girl games by making smaller arcades with only 50-100 games of a specific topic related to girl games. I link to them from my larger sites, submit to the big three and usually within two to three weeks they're getting indexed and receiving se traffic. Not a lot, but enough to make $5-$10 a month each off adsense. You get enough of these mini sites out there and...you can make a few bucks. Not enough to quit your day job, but, some extra change.
I have a couple of arcades, only one that I have promoted at all is Arcadeforyou. Thing is I don't know where to find, or how to upload new games for this site. I would appreciate any critique that the more seasoned arcade webmasters could offer me.
If any of you are looking for free databases for AV Arcade then take alook here http://www.allnukestuff.com/forums/downloads.php?do=cat&id=39 Enjoy
I disagree. I think scott picked a great time to sell out. I think he realized his sales had peaked and was starting to decline and so he sold out. After all how many licenses were already sold? The market is starting to get saturated with several scripts and an exponential number of arcades. Interest is surely waning. All imho fwiw.
A few years ago, maybe, but not now imo. Unless you offer something really unique or have a really deep pocket (or energy/knowledge) for advertisement to stand out from this over-saturated market.
