I have a blog at the moment, and I really like the theme I'm using. However, I wanted make it look less like a blog, and give it a regular website feel. Can you give me any suggestions on how I can go about doing this? I'm not trying to go all out and do a 360 change, just a few tweaks here and there..... My blog is the first link in my signature.
You have a nice blog there, why you want to change? I personally like all white space in he background, but the black here is looking good.

Buy a premium magazine theme, a bit of work and you will get a stunning website http://www.revolutiontheme.com / http://www.revolutiontheme.com/themes/revolution-magazine
Thx, + Rep added...but most of my competition, have blogs that don't come off as blogs right away when you look at them...and I just was trying to do the same....with blogs becoming more common, people look down to simple blogs nowadays... + Rep added I'll check them out, but I have a feeling their going to be beyond my budget
Thanks for the rep if you do so Free themes: http://www.freewpthemes.net http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2008/01/08/100-excellent-free-high-quality-wordpress-themes/ http://www.ndesign-studio.com/resources/wp-themes/ Adsense ready WP themes: http://www.wpskins.org http://www.wpthemespot.com http://www.wpthemesfree.com You can also use a cool plugin for your images NextGen plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/nextgen-gallery/
@kloop: Some simple tweaks mostly on the sidebar: - remove the "recent posts" - remove the "recent comments" - remove the "archive" Change the name "categories" to something like "Repcodes" and bring it up higher Set the RSS Feed under the "Repcode" section. Change the name in the single posts page from "related posts" to "Other Repcodes" or whatever you want, just loose the "posts" term. Hope this is what you are looking for, give it a try and see how it works.
Thx!!!! I would add more Rep but can't lol Hmmm, I'll take some of that into consideration...+ Rep Added
If you want it to look less like a blog, you should consider only showing one post on the homepage, and make that post a static one that leads to all other posts you have made. In it's current format, it does seem still a bit blog-ish. Hope this helps.
you have a nice site there. I like the current theme however, there are many quality premium themes out there, to make your blog look a stunning web site! If you wish to use "sponsored" free themes, here are the few links, I can suggest: http://wpthemesfree.com http://wordpressgallery.com http://qualitywordpress.com http://ophelianicholson.com http://themes.blogflux.com http://themes.rock-kitty.net If I were you, I would prefer hiring a designer for few bucks, to create me a unique and stunning theme...
+ Rep Added.. I thought about that but I'm still trying to form a fanbase for the site...so the more things posted on the first page the more people well check out the posts and return for more... + Rep Added..thx!
Yep - Like a magazine The problem is that it is static and if you want to change that you can play with (rotating) thumbs linked to categories (for instance)
if you use the wp-ecommerce plugin you can make it look better, like a store http://www.ddzshoes.com site i did with customized product list
Also, removing the post date will make it look less like a blog. If you still want to show when the page was updated you can put something in the footer that says last updated: mm/dd/yy. Having the dates next to the posts just makes it a blog since it is like a journal-format.
I think it looks amazing how it is! You could add a rating system to your blog, which rates all your posts.
Simply use a free magazine style theme. Like: Mambo Jello Walla Mello The Morning After Options Forte (kinda) etc etc
Thanks for all the input, I had someone do some graphics for me and from what people say it looks great as is...so I'll just stick with the blog format for now... + REP everyone above
