Well, I hope that they will buy Yahoo. Also because MS can build really good APIs around Yahoo's services, so I can use them in my apps.

    Nothing happened.

Now, all Gates needs to do is SIT BACK & WAIT, while the Yahoo stock drops BELOW its previous share price prior to the Microsoft offer.
The Yahoo board blew a golden opportunity to save their collective butts.

As the % of search market by both MSN & Yahoo decreases, the value of all non-google businesses declines proportionally.

Gates will end up with Yahoo, eventually---- for much less than the original offer!

but thanks to all this publicity, alot of people realised (especially when google ads where shown on yahoo's searches [imo not as relevant as y! new system], and the reluctance of the industry to allow m$ to take them over was shown with no-one ruling themselves out (realistically)).

I think that yahoo's latest acquisitions have greatly strengthened its role as a content provider, and its new search algorithms and platforms could make up the gap with google; you also cant forget in terms of over here in the UK its only recently that google got more page views (@alexa) per month than yahoo, i think it was october last year the first time yahoo.co.uk got less than google.co.uk

Yahoo still has a chance. Eventually Microsoft will squeeze market share of Yahoo and Google with their search engine add on is being offered with almost every Microsoft software product

you think they'd pull a hostile takeover? I'd be surprised if they did that, but it is Microsoft ;)
