Hello, I have two domains which am going to use for Affiliate Marketing... One of them is a .US domain and the other one is a .COM. Suppose they are 123coupons.us and 123couponsonline.com then which one do you PREFER? The .US or .COM? I personally prefer .US as its short.. but will the users consider that as a SPAM Site? Which domain extention is superior .US or .NET? - Minterest
Some say that .com is the best to go with, but in the end if you build a good brand, the URL isn't that important. Good luck.
.com will always win out over its equal newer domain name extension because it is more recognizable to more people. Especially if you own both domain names. We often forward the .net .org .info .us sites to the .com sites when we own all of them. Hope this helps....
Yeah that makes sense.. one question... which domain will you set as ur primary domain if you own both 123coupons.us or 123couponsonline.com?
It doesn't make a bit of difference. Your ad and site is what sells. I find it hard to believe that a mother will pass up on a new video game at 30% off for her child on his birthday, simply because the extension is .us. Come on, let's use some common sense here. Besides, they click on links, they don't type it in. I have the FM extension. I wanted the name, The List, but all of the extensions were taken but the FM. I bought it anyway, and I'm glad I did! It is better than the .com because in a way it perks curiosity. It also looks better, it's different.
Minterest, My personal & professional belief is that .com shall always rule. Reason: We are conditioned to type in .com as an extension. When is the last time you typed in .net, .info, .cc or .us? Now if you don't care about long term branding and have other items on your agenda for the name ...any other extension will do like a .us. -=Chipmunk=-
Well, I have just made the .US extention as primary and redirected the .COM using 301... So that i can use both the domains... and can use the .COM as display URL....
Well you should have just split tested the ad urls. Ad1 blah blah blah click here to be rich www.yoururl.com then the same ad for the next url Ad1 blah blah blah click here to be rich www.yoururl.us To be honest the URL does not matter much I own a-1-a.net and market a ton of offers with it Gift-Cards.a-1-a. net Dog-Bones.a-1-a. net Spa-Giftcards.a-1-a. net (URLS spaced to prevent hyper linking) I think part of it is due to the keyword being in front of the domain... but whatever the reason it works well for me and I don't need to buy any more domains beside the 150 I own now lol....
for me, i would prefer a .COM to a .US .COM seems to be dominating the net and is sort of a global TLD compared to .US
That is why most webmasters fail when marketing,.......they worry about what they like or prefer..... However you should worry about what the consumer wants...... Your own likes and dislikes can pollute your marketing efforts.....
.com has ruled for years now, but I personally do not see it as a major deal. A quality site can have any domain name it wants. I started one and called it.... ideas-from.us so it looked like ideas from us and I can develop sub-domains into it like acne-ideas.from.us or music-ideas-from.us and so on. So far the search engines like it just fine and my traffic is picking up everyday too.
if your site deals with people who are having less knowledge about internet then its good to go for .com or else .us is good one.
lol thanks. man. I needed that laugh. It's been one of those days. *shrugs shoulers* For me, personally, it beats me. I click on the links after reading an article or on a product. Yeah, that one extra letter in the com extension can be burdensome. Ya got the com, use it. Jeez. Man, what ARE you thinking?!
