Planning to add blogging feature on my site...

I want to add a little blogging feature on my site. Like what wordpress.com or blogger.com is offering. Users will get their own xxxxx.mysite.com url blog. How am I going to do this? Will I be able to do that with wordpress? Will I also need to get unlimited sub-domains feature on my hosting? Please advice thanks.
