Study on Alexa Top 10,000 Sites List

    The Alexa Ranking system has been changed greatly in the last two weeks.
    We compare the ranking for alexa top 10,000 sites in 2008.04.27 with 2008.04.13.

    The compare result is as following in general:
    New Break into Alexa Top 100 Sites List: 28 (sites), move rate: 28.00%.
    New Break into Alexa Top 1,000 Sites List: 288 (sites), move rate: 28.80%.
    New Break into Alexa Top 10,000 Sites List: 2,725 (sites), move rate: 27.25%.

    I attach the full compare result for Alexa Top 100 Sites List.
    It also can be downloaded from: http://www.livelybrowser.com/topsite...s_20080427.zip

    Top_100_Sites_20080427.zip includes following six files:
    1) readme.txt: Introduce how to study this compare result;
    2) Top_100_Sites.txt: Alexa top 100 sites list which contains new rank and domain;
    3) Top_100_Sites.csv: Alexa top 100 sites list which contains new rank, domain and old rank;
    4) Top_100.sites: Alexa top 100 sites list which can be opened by a freeware called Lively Browser.
    5) New_In_Top_100.csv: New Break into Alexa top 100 sites List which contains No., domain, old rank and new rank.
    6) New_Out_Top_100.csv: New out of Alexa top 100 sites list which contains No., domain, old rank and new rank.

    I see you saying this a lot, can you say why you think it's crap?

    I always see how importnt page rank is everywhere so I'm just curious - what do you think is more important?

    That's an interesting work you have there, since they changed their algorhytm it got more accurate, however, it will never be reasonably accurate with their current technology.

    maybe its not totally crap but don't alexa only record traffic from people whose using alexa toolbar? and how many are those? I mean nobody I know are using alexa toolbar.

    I could be wrong..

    The new Alexa Ranking system is not only basing people who using alexa toolbar any more. So it's much more accurate now, I think. :)

    Don't say alexa is crap if you have a bad rankings lol :) You should know how to use them.
    UPDATE: the first link doesn't work, it looks like it's been copied from somewhere.
