vBulletin 3.7.0 is looking sweet -- Its not out as a Final build yet but when it is i'm gonna updated to that :) The Profile page looks very good :D - Thats the reason PHPFOX gave up on supporting the vbulletin plugin -- I used to be with PHPFOX myself but i sold my scripts off and went the vbulletin route :D

Good for you. It does a good job with certian things if that is enough for you. Unfortunately other than it adding a little extra, it doesn't do enough for me which is why I've actually built several extensive sites using Handshakes, vbulletin and 3 other scripts that are nicely integrated. It took a LOT of work but it extends into a full blown social networking experience. For the most part, the new vb forums may work for you on a basic level along with the photos, which is a large part. Good luck.

I'm going to go for the Handshakes script, in my opinion it's the best of all of them and is getting better all the time. The only thing slowing down that process to be honest is the lack of clear documentation for the coders to add mods to it, thus making it more complex to go into the unknown unless you clearly know what you doing like some of them on their forums. The sooner they make it easier for devs to provide mods for the script te better, the forum could also be a bit more active in my opinion but that would if there were more mods available. Still though, it's the best & cleanest script in my opinion.

I guess Dzoic is a good choice...I haven't built a site with it but I tested their demo...and looks pretty good.

And if any have experience with these software why not write detailed reviews here www.mytestbox.com ?

I vote for Dzoic Handshakes over Buddyzone, having used Dzoic on 2 sites previously with success...

    Cheers

Whatever you do, DO NOT USE WEB SCRIBBLE SOLUTIONS. They have junk for software and we ordered it took almost 48 hrs to get then all the bugs and page and links not working. Their support don't know what they are doing, and with one problem told our programmer to use a 777 code on the php which would have open the site up for security risk. They will not refund our money and with all the mods we purchased we are out 672.00. Make sure any software comes with a money back warranty. Please let anyone know that is thinking of buy dating or social networking not to use these crooks. If someone wants more info I will be glad to give my e-mail. I am not pushing any scripts, I am not a competitor, just someone that got ripped off. We are looking for good software.
    Good luck

    Hey guys,

I just wanted to add another option into the mix here.

Has anyone here heard of or used SocialSiteGenerator.com?

For the past year we've been taking feedback from existing members,
and improving the software before releasing it on a mass scale.

I've had clients who have switched from PHPFox & Dolphin to use our solution
because our script is more flexible, more affordable, easier to use, and we also
provide a Facebook type of script, while all the others only provide
a standard MySpace type of site.

I won't go into too much details, you can check out the site and demo's
for yourself, but just wanted to let you guys know about this additional option.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

    Hi,
I think myspace clone is something that won't work unless you have Superior business plan.

Youtube/Flickr contents aggregator for its users.
Co-Browsing(surfing together) for video or photo or dating site.
    Co-shopping site etc would work.

I sell the scripts. PM me or email me imogen[[at]]ubispot[[.]]com if interested.

Do You have idea how much time and finances You have to invest in to Open Source ?

I would still recommend any commercial product, unless You are a Pro in PHP,Java script,xml,...
Have a look at Dating Pro and Abledating, the best features are already included.

I've been using PhpFox during two years while MySpace was still the best social network around. I haven't been working with version 3, but the version I had was very hard to modify. If you go for PhpFox, you must be aware that every modification you'll need will cost time and money (there is an active community, but most of the time people answering on the forums are freelance coders who sell modules).

If I had to make a social network today, I'd probably start from scratch. But to answer to your question, if PhpFox is good for a College students social network, I think it truly is : there's a game module, media module etc... You can do many many things natively. Oh, and it'll cost you a good host cause the PhpFox system is sloooooooooooooooooow.

PM me for more info if you need ;)

That's right. when i was looking into phpFox, they wanted over $1000USD+ for a CCBILL module. Probably fair but out of my limit.
