i guess most of you know that this awesome OS will soon meet it's demise by 2010. All support will be gradually reduced by that time. and yet, Vista is not a great replacement with all those hardware and software incompatibilities. petitions are pouring into microsoft to at least extend WindowsXP before a replacement for Vista is available.
don't worry about xp, as long as new mobile devices won't be powerful enough to run vista smoothly, winxp will be the os of choice, so support will be extended, 2010 is already fine, but I guess a little bit more.
Mobile devices use Windows Mobile, not XP or Vista. Of course it will be obsolete, it's 7 years old. With support will be 10 years old. I think that's enough time for an OS. Does anyone still use Slackware 1 or OS/2? No! It's called evolution
i'm talking about devices such as eeepc now with winxp because not powerful enough to run vista. Mobile devices between laptops and mobile phones. No doubt even the lamest electronic device will be able to run vista in the next years, but in this transition time winxp still has a bit of extended lifecycle.
Well, I saw that tablet PCs use Vista, and they are really fast, beside the fact that their processor/RAM is half than a normal PC. And still Vista works great!
yes, the cpu is not the main issue for those devices as eeepc, it's because they're running on limited flash memory, so that's the size of the os, winxp is about 2GB while vista is about 8GB. Tablet PCs still hold a hard drive so size of OS isn't an issue.
For Windows XP fans, last Thursday, Steve Ballmer, Microsoft CEO is reported as stating in USA Today that the company "may reconsider its decision to stop selling it soon". The current date to delete XP from store shelves is June 30. Support is scheduled through April 2009. There is a "HELP SAVE XP Petition" at a blog at Infoworld.com. Ballmer did state that if "customer feedback varies, we can always wake up smarter" indicating XP fans may be able to stall the end...
God do I just hate linux users, I don't know why, don't know how I just do. Edit - Just had a think why and how, it's because I'm sick of this 'you have never used Linux before', 'you don't know what your missing' and 'Linux is great' comments that pop up from time to time. Of course I haven't used it before it's for stupid users who think they know better because they have installed free software and think it's great. Ahhh that feels better thank you.
You shouldn't single out a group of people because of a few nut jobs. I'm an avid Linux user, but I'll use any OS that allows me to view porn the most efficient. So far it's Ubuntu for torrents & XP for websites
