Need someone with experience in directory set up

    Hi directory webmasters,

I'd like to create one directory, but I don't have any experience with this and unfortunately I don't have time to learn. I'd like to hire a reputable member of this forum with experience in directory creation/management to help me complete basic steps, i.e. script set up, skin design and initial promotion (submission to directory sites).

    Please PM.

    Thanks :)

You can setup script yourself as install.txt always there in bundle of any scripts (its not difficult task). After that you can hire someone for better design and coding work for your directory (Check Templates section in BST for that). At the end you can also hire someone for directory submission service (Check Services section under BST of this forum for this).

    DON.

I can install a directory with a template that you provide for $25. You'll probably get cheaper offers from other members though.

You might want to consider calling over to the phpLynx forum and asking there, I know you'll get a free script install and support, but as for a custom design you'd need to discuss that with other members. All I can offer you is the advice not to fall into the trap of creating a directory that would clash with the thousands already out there.

    Good luck.

Just check "http://v2.borolook.com", my new V2 directory to giveaway on my site. Now I am coding the admin page. The entire directory (visitor side) is completed. I am using Access database on this directory. You don't need buy any MySql or other external database.

This directory has adsense inbuilt. Just replace the adsense pub-id and all the revenue earning will be your. Wait just two more days to finish it. One is already available for download on site. See at "http://borolook.com/tools.asp". But I don't recommend using that one because that was my first directory for giveaway so the designed is not satisfactory. Now this V2 is better than that.

If you like V2 full directory website, just PM me. I'll PM you download link. You can although download it from my site once it completed.

If you like give any suggestion, please PM me.

    Thanks

Then you already are wasting your time and energy even thinking about this.

So many underestimate what's truly involved here, the hours spent just getting one filled will take you by surprise, it will take you years to fill it to such a stage where it becomes useful, and you will need at least 20'000 listings before you even begin promoting it.

    1. the idea/theme must be unique

    2. 1000's of hours will be spent on this

    3. Chances are you won't make what you think is possible

    4. You will so underestimate the costs involved in this

    5. Domain expertise is a must - even more so for a 'directory model' business

    6. You will follow all kinds of bad advice, make too many mistakes and won't recover

    7. Directory model is too easy to duplicate

    8. Selecting the wrong companies, help and agencies is too easy to do, and can eat up budgets. No operating cash, and you're finished.

But if you do manage to get it right, then you will really make it big.

Unfortunately, this is not easy to just do. Good luck and have fun :)

I perfectly know what I am doing.
I wanted to save my time from for example implementing a custom mod with SEO-friendly permalinks. Or thumbnails. Fortunately, it seems that the script I have already has these features. It was not difficult to install. I did it myself. Happy now? :)

Ahhh, now I understand, except you didn't mention the help needed was of a technical nature.

Also the question isn't about whether I'm happy about what you do, it's whether you will be a major success with this project. Time will tell.

Brian, I noticed your tutorial misses assigning a MySQL user to a databse. Or did I not read it properly?

U can easily setup a directory if u have the script by only reading the readme file. It will not take that much time while u r trying to get some1

    Thanks
