Frankly I think some psychological help will be useful for you in the long run.

I was just like that when I first moved out on my own. I was 23 and I was soooo FREAKIN scared every night - I would jam the front door shut with the ironing board and lock myself in the bathroom, lol

Thank God it slowly went away - Now I can't wait until everyone leaves the house and I'm all alone!!

Try turning a fan on, make some white noise so you don't here all of the creaks and moans in the house. You can also add some extra locks to the doors and windows just to make yourself feel safer.

If your religious, get a Priest to come and Bless your house -

    Get a roomate.

    Get a girl/boy friend -

    Call GHOSTBUSTERS!!!

I don't know if getting married is a quick fix solution to this guys problem. It may make him scared to sleep in his house! Of course I'm joking.

I have the same problem with you. But in my case, I found that positively there is 'someone' in my room. Sometimes my bed shaken when I was laying on it in half-sleep condition. Sometimes I heard foot steps on my roof.
But I think if I do feel afraid, then he will feel like a winner. So don't let your feeling show. If they show themselves, fight them! Nobody ever get killed by ghost. Nobody.

I wouldn't say get married. Get a girlfriend and go from there. Room mates would work. I personally have never had a problem being afraid of being alone. Now I am married and look forward to it. ROFL.

Overcome your fear by realizing movies are movies, and the illusions are created by your brain. Done.

I would suggest for you to get some room-mates. That would be the fastest way for now to overcome your fear. Or you could always try to make a distraction like a fan, a light or something.
