Visit my free applications website, www. trustedwriter.official.ws [IMG]

I have put together a number of tools and resources including a plain word count tool and another providing character count with spaces or without spaces, word count and lines count.

There is also a grammar and spelling checking tool, translators, quick links to research sources and more so I believe you will not blame me after visiting, LOL

    Hi poccake,
If you have installed MS Office 2007 in your computer, then it is extremely easy.
Just have a look on the bottom left corner of the application. You will find the total word count. If you want to check for a definite part of your article, select it with the mouse. It will say the word count of that particular area.
Let me explain you. Suppose, the total word count of your article is 700 and you want to check the word count of the second, third and fourth para, just select the words right from the beginning of second para to the end of fourth para, you will have your answer. It will say 345/700. :D

Except my online tools suggestion I have seen everyone is discussing about software so I will give it a try to xmailwrite and this is what I use [IMG]

The Journal, an application that comes with an in-built database so you can store your articles and any other piece of information besides schedule your work. Document stats are displayed in the status bar as you write or bring to screen by pressing control+W if you want to skip the menu selection.

The Journal is a professional writing tool and not just a generic word processor as MS Word or Open Office editor. Fully functional shareware for 45 days, further information at www . davidrm.com

Of course I use Microsoft Word for final format and delivery, but never as a full-time editor.

P.S. Please fix the URL to visit since I cannot post live links yet

About this software I have no idea if it is true what is quoted.

Instead of a regular website you will find a copy sales letter-like page requiring you to follow a similar procedures (provide them with your email address)

You are then asked to confirm your email and you get indeed access to download the file but... oh surprise, it is free but you need an unlock code, otherwise you cannot start this application [IMG]

Summarizing, it's not worth a try and you should always have a "trashcan email" address for download purpose instead of your regular email as I do.

I had not stopped by my trashcan until today to retrieve that software and there are literally thousands of daily emails in the inbox and over 6,000 in the spam box despite nobody uses such account [IMG]

Must have been living under a rock because I really don't have an idea what xmailwrite is. How effective is it? How helpful has it been for you? You mean you no longer use any other software?

Be careful using online word count tools. I've heard of people getting their content stolen from those tools.

Nope, sorry. There are no tools like that. You'll have to count each and every word.

(kidding, of course; I use MS Word)

I have a few of those tools at my applications website, www.trustedwriter.official.ws

These tools are powered by Google so it might be true what Latoya says when those tools come from other sites but, from Google?

I never was aware that Google could do something like that

You see, xmailwrite was developed by the makers of xsitepro. The software was initially and primarily designed for writing emails so that they could easily pass through spam filters. It has many functionalities included and it will definitely ease your writing process as well as improve your writing. It also gives you suggestions on the things you need to change regarding grammar and word usage. Title on their website says it all - "...helps you to write e-mailing messages that are more likely to arrive at their destination..."

And it's true. I was recommended this piece of software by one of the members of the copywriters board. After a while I started using it even for writing articles. The good news is it's free. Try it!
