Thats an excellent point made by mightyb and yes, I have seen people selling $10 ebook on it. Actually the secret is TELLING people what to do. Illa (mighty, is this your name?). Instead of opting for PRweb's $40 and higher plans, he is telling you a FREE way to get into Google news which is the sole reason of most of the press releases since they will never be published anyway by newspapers. Once you get into Google news, you can also get tons of links from those who are using Google News feeds and not to mention traffic from Google Alerts and believe me, Google Alerts is the highest form of directed traffic you can get. Its a shame that ppl instead of appreciating his advice and following it, are making nonsense and baseless accusations of Paid post (Jesus, how come they even thought of that?)
Yep that's my name Ah well, no good deed goes unpunished. I will be experimenting with a few PR distributors some time this week so I will probably post a working list.
Nice post mate...I have been doing this for some time through various agencies on and off...people say "don't bother unless your PR is newsworthy"...but I've always taken the hard and fast approach, if I have nothing worth saying I'll say it anyway and hope someone picks up I think dude guy (don't know his name) was mentioning the affiliate link in the post directly underneath this one for "30 minute back links" ... though I don't know why anyone would rag you for having a fragin affiliate link in your blog post, paid or otherwise!
Now, remember..I'm a newbie so apparently I'm missing something; I submitted an article promoting my website which is to promote a clickbank product. PR.com declined my article and deactivated my account because they said they do not promote mlm sites. How can I get around this and promote my dang product??
NO NO NO..you don't promote ClickBank products using PRess releases, they are for different things. You can use adwords but I am worried, u may loose money!
I doubt you would get away with a blatant ad anyway. Write a quality article and link a few keywords. Article itself should not be an ad.
Having your release appear in Google News does not = being seen by millions. Or thousands even. It's all about the headline, the niche and amount of other sites reporting the same thing. Some press releases won't get more than 10 views if it's not catchy. I know, I own a press release distribution company. Submit a free press release to my site and it will appear in Google News... it's not magic.
holy cynicism batman! give the guy a break, he just shared something he thought might be interesting to others. thanks mightyb this is what makes DP forums so valuable (or any other forum for that matter) and what the internet was made for, why all the stoopid attacks?
I've written a number of press releases that have gotten listed in Google News. They're really hit/miss. One drove a few thousand visitors to my site. Another drove barely 200. But I used a press release distribution service called prweb.com, which I'd recommend except that they charged $80 per release.
I only noticed this now.. this was a wrong thread dude. Im sorry for any offence taken because none was meant! Best of luck and great site.
Tom Thumb No problem zole Thanks bud! subigo Well, some people don't run PR companies like you do and might not be aware of this.
Seems to me it is as much a matter of timing as anything. Legitimate news writers/media will get their story in GNews within minutes of it breaking. How long before pr.com or others release it, and amount of time elapses before Google News picks it up? It would be easy to sit back watching Fox News and CNN, typing feverishly every time a breaking story came through.
Claymation Whats ironic is that Google news are not quite news. Search for something yourself. You will find a whole bunch of stuff that can't possibly be classified as news. Sam 735 Not at all.
This is a good reminder. Thanks for sharing. PR stories can help... but having newsworthy item - that's where the real challenge is...
Looking around, I'm seeing all kinds of Press Release companies charging big $$, and holding your story for 24-48 hours. ANY length of time delaying your release renders the breaking story useless.
